I don't know if butch is more common, just more recognizeable. If you see a pretty femme walking down the street, your first thought isn't "hey! a lesbian!" You'd never know.

oh, there's a million reasons why lesbians end up sleeping with guys first. mostly because it's the normal thing to do and it takes awhile for a lot of girls to sort out who exactly they're attracted to.
