A number of Islamic students have been assaulted and harassed today...some even report that they fear for their lives/safety.

Everyone's anger over this is understandable, but let us not turn into haters; if today's events were done by Muslims they were clearly not following
their religion in doing so. The hiajckers obviously died in the attacks...and Islam is very clear in its prohibition of suicide. Also Islamic
rules of Jihad (holy war) were completely disregarded by these attackers. These attackers do not represent Islam; they represent evil, and that is all.

Just let's not terrorize our fellow students as well, please?

i definitly agree. there is an official statement on the ncsu news webpage from muslim students here asking students not to assume they are in any way related to this tragedy. they like most of the world hope all who are responsible are caught and punished.

Yeah, I was worried about the international students. Taking it out on them is fucked up, 'specailly since we don't know what nation did it. Don't you people remember when foreign terrorists were suspected in OK city... and look it was one of our own.

I've already been seeing some "Good old boy" sorts go off on "all those A-rabs". It's horrible--I'm friends with a lot of people of Arabic descent, none of whom would even think of murdering thousands of innocents like that. Maybe Arabs are behind this sort of incident, but most Arabs aren't.

Stereotyping and generalizing people is one of the lowest forms of ignorance....just because someone is part of a certain ethnic group, race, or religion does not mean they believe or act the same way as some or even most of them. There are exceptions to every group. There are good people of every race. There are good arabs, blacks, whites, asian, and every other group. There are good christians, atheists, muslims, and good people of other religion. I am so tired of seeing people get generalized jsut because they are of a certain group. Please stop showing your ignorance and arguing amongst yourselves when there are bigger problems in the world than your own intolerance.

I find it absurd that we are so defensive of our rights, like that we are innocent until proven guilty, and then we attack those we don't know have any involvement. Of course most muslims here in the US are not a risk. But thats not to say that their aren't any here that are willing to help the crazy fucks out there. Think about it, I'm almost sure there are going to be serveral smaller terrorist acts commited by smaller non-related gropus because they are probably thinking now is the time. I my self am going to play it safe and just stay around the house for the next week.... and as far as going to the vigil service... HELL no i'm not going. Thats a target and a half. I'm just gonna stay out of large groups for a while...

and as far as the muslim students here on campus... i wouldn't worry, they are all cool. why would they waste their time going to school if they are just involved in some terrorist plot.

EXACTLY...I think we should also keep in mind that if we do find the culprits, whatever ethnicity they may be, that we do not treat our fellow students with racial disregard. Remember the actions the US took against people of Oriental descent during WWII. We are still facing reprecussions against the camps.
