I liked Asylum better than Murder House because I felt it was less grating early on. Murder House really made me uncomfortable during the first episode, and I heard the same thing from two friends who didn't even finish that first episode. I had to goad my parents into watching further, but they did really enjoy it at the end.

Asylum did end with a whisper, though. I could see how that would suck if you were watching it on TV (I watched it all in a day).

Coven was so bad. Its sad, though. Kathy Bates's character had so much promise, especially with how that first episode ended.

I didn't think Coven was that bad but I do agree that Murder House and Asylum were better. Murder House was still the best in my opinion though.

I have a feeling that like Coven, the best part of this season will be the opening credits. One of the spookiest things I have seen, wish the show would follow suit.

If Freak Show doesn't have Stevie Nicks it will already be better than Coven.

I really liked the murder house. I kinda liked the asylum. I couldn't get into the coven enough to watch after the first 3 or 4 episodes. I really hope this one is good, I'm a fan of traveling carnivals and creepy clowns... I really liked Carnivale the first time I watched it through.

Great episode last night although maybe it's just me but the CGI on the two heads just seemed off somehow. Can't quite figure it out but something just seemed off. Pleased to see some of the returning minor characters like that one asylum patient from season 2 (can't remember her name -- shaved head with the huge nose). The killer clown was awesome btw.

I wasn't sure what to think of the tribute they did to David Bowie -- I did enjoy it and Jessica Lange did an incredible job but I feel like it was kind of out of place.

I liked the first season, skipped the 2nd, and the third was entertaining, but I watched ep1 of this season last night and thought it was terrible. I might give it one more go next week, but if it doesn't show a LOT of improvement, I won't continue watching.

That clown reminds me so much of the ones from Killer Klowns from Outer Space. When he pulled out the flowers for that one girl, I half expect him to pull out that gun that wraps you up in cotton candy.

I've thought every season (including this one) started off well then just dissolves into a total shit show. I invest my time into it and get nothing in the end. I think this show just needs less episodes per year to keep focus.

Awesome first episode. I love the theme of this season, so I hope it keeps going well.

I notice the CGI with the 2 heads, but it isn't that big of a deal. They don't have as big of a budget as a movie so I don't expect it to look as great.

Just started watching American Horror story a couple weeks ago to get in the "mood" for Halloween, so the wifey and I are watching the first season along with this Freak Show season. Aside from the first episode of Freak Show, the difference in quality is ridiculous. Freak Show is abysmal right now. I have a slight sliver of hope that it can turn around, but it's starting to become unwatchable. The clown is the only thing keeping this show alive right now.

For whatever reason my fucking DVR stopped recording with about 15 minutes of the show left. It seems to do this sometimes with FX shows, since they don't always end within the standard time frame. Still, that's bullshit. So I'm DL'ing the ep off the internet...assholes.

I feel like this show in general is always a grab bag. Season 1 started really strong, but got a bit dumb later on. I felt 2 was a little bit more "even." I didn't see 3.

I always find myself thinking how silly the show is while watching it, but I still enjoy it overall. I'll call it a guilty pleasure.

Glad the Mordrake (sp?) part is over. That was horrible. I don't mind backstories, but we didn't need all of that shit.

Better than last episode, but that wasn't difficult.

This season blows. There's nothing scary going on, and they're focusing way too much on Jessica Lange's character...who isn't even a freak in my eyes.

It definitely is more drama-y and less scary. Perhaps I'm not recalling correctly, but was that not how season 2 was (for much of it)? Additionally, I prefer Dandy now that he is whining a lot less.

Either way, as I said before, this show has ALWAYS been a guilty pleasure. The acting is hit or miss. The premise always wears thin early in the season (I'm looking at you season 1). I still am entertained.

^^^There was some genuine "horror" in the second season between the monsters in the yard, the possession (short-lived) and the general atmosphere at the asylum. Not to mention the constant thread which was trying to figure out Bloody-Face past and future.

That french song from the record also gives me chills, though I cannot think of the specific reasons why.

The 3rd season was definitely mostly drama and little horror. In fact, you can use tween expressions other than "drama" to describe it. I'd also go with "hot mess".

Acting wise Asylum was best. Especially Lily Rabe and James Cromwell.

I think Coven had the best story despite the teen drama. Asylum had too many plot points that didn't fit together (like the aliens), and Murder House just kept filling up with more and more ghosts each with their own agenda that I couldn't keep track of who wanted what. I liked the factions set up in Coven (witches, voodoo, hunters) and it was a much more cohesive plot.

So far I haven't liked the acting or the story for Freak Show, but I'm sticking with it.

Yeah this shit is terrible, the only good part was the freak clown and he was killed way too early. The only reason I am finishing it is because I feel like I have watched too much to stop and I don't have a lot of shows I watch.
