Yeah, this along with the age thing has killed it. To be a good college site we needed about 500+ new students to join every year and post.

I haven't posted in a month and two days. My streak of posting was like 4 years or some shit before one day that TWW was so boring that there was nothing I wanted to comment on.

Here are my reasons:

1. Krallum.
2. Ridiculous, unwarranted trolling (see #1)
3. People who troll when users try to submit interesting threads. This stopped me from posting news threads.
4. Posters like Krallum.
5. face.

Reddit's interface is confusing and hated at times, has flaws that support a hivemind, etc, but it is extremely efficient at nullifying useless troll users like Krallum. It keeps the overall mood of the site very upbeat.

TWW has become a troll cesspool and this makes it impossible to attract new users and turns off old users as well.

I don't even make it on here for Sports Talk anymore because that place is a troll cesspool as well. Shit, I check the Clemson thread and I see this post by BlackJesus (who is about as bad as Krallum, see #4):

tl;dr TWW died because of a lack of moderating on a shit userbase.

The trolling and general harshness does seem spot on. The few people I know who have quit that I am connected with on facebook have said that is the reason.

A noob forum for users <1000 posts and a valid ncsu student id would be cool. Add in about 10 or so older users that can answer questions and be generally kind and helpful. Maybe you could get some younger users on the site.

I mean I can be kind and sort of helpful, but I don't have a lot of knowledge of campus or campus life anymore. I can help the noobies get their feet wet and stuff on tww, but I definitely couldn't be in charge. We would need a couple people that are involved in campus activities and know their way around campus, a few people that are very tww savvy, and then just a few people who are willing to help noobs get adjusted.

Users growing up, graduating, joining the real word, and getting married/kids....this is more of a college site. There are some that will stay until they die.... the site has suffered not getting the new blood. It will never be what it was during the CrazyJ, Joe, Myrtle days.

Yeah we need to get this place started up again. My TASL soccer team about folded, but it survived thanks to about 7, or 8 tdubbers who joined to fill up the roster. Not that many of them play anymore though. I need to be able to find recruits on here.

Also, one thing that could help maybe is being able to host an unlimited amount of photos for free. There are a lot of galleries that haven't been updated in almost a decade. Once photobucket, myspace, facebook, twitter, and all other photo hosting sites started allowing free unlimited hosting, no one was interested in using the gallery anymore.

I think it's a good idea... a current student forum that new users registering for the first time with their ncsu email would automatically gain access to for 4 years. Anyone taking longer than that (or going back to grad school) would have to be a case by case basis such as old school.

We need to revitalize the user base and if that means pissing off some of the older people and making them leave that may be a sacrifice that has to be made.

I really think creating a sanctuary for the noobs to learn the ropes without getting trolled would be very helpful. And maybe as far as the gallery goes there could be a reward system for being an active poster. You could earn gallery space or certain privileges by upping your post count. Padding would have to be closely monitored though.

TWW is weird.

It's full of people educated as hell. It's like if facebook had never let the general public in. Plus Krallum.

The problem with Reddit is that people take it seriously. They don't know what "circlejerk" is, and then sensationalize the troll parts. That then feeds the trolls. On TWW we all know the default state is "troll". 'tis superior, but unknown.

Still, has no future. Site 3 was cute, but not sure if serious...

Facebook is just a torrent of people I lost true contact with years ago posting baby pictures, pet pictures, and food pictures, and opining on topics they are not well-suited to intelligently discuss. It would be a stretch if I logged in once a month.

The question is how to get the plebeian masses to recognize this and to welcome their new TDub overlords. . .

Free registration being extended to students at other universities in the Raleigh area might not hurt, rather than just to those with NCSU unity e-mail accounts. Or just making all .edu e-mail addresses ones with free registration, it's not like the site would get overwhelmed even in that case.
