I would rent this house if it wasn't 5br--I imagine you ask a pretty good deal for it.

I would demand that you let me help with the renovations in exchange for learning new skills.

Yes, detached garage. The house will be the same color, but the renovation isn't done on it yet (still have the back wall to do) so I haven't painted it. I live in oakwood so many/most houses are bright colors like that. Green's my favorite so that's what I went with. The houses on either side of me are brick so mine sticks out extra. The white balance on my camera wasn't that good so it's not quite as intense as the images show.

When I see this in a southern town, I think they are really trying to rip off some of the styling from Charleston and the whole rainbow row thing. Sometimes it looks good, other times, it is really bad. That group of houses in the picture look fine IMO.

I live in Charleston, and I agree. The funny thing is people in lower income neighborhoods still try and pull that shit here...and it looks horrible. I just had a neighbor repaint their house smurf blue and it looks like shit.

Now if the whole neighborhood is doing it...then I guess its okay. I will think the neighborhood looks ridiculous, but I guess you aren't sticking out like a sore thumb with your neutral colored house. I also think the ^ picture above the "bright" colors look a little muted/faded and not quite as bright as the picture the OP posted. So like he said...maybe it's the lighting.
