Even at it's current level it's still overvalued like crazy.

Maybe Elon will promise free Mars trips with the purchase of any qualifying Tesla car and stem the bleeding.

I'm heavily bearish and put my money where my mouth is.

I've done it 3 previous times. I had bad luck with it in 2014, but have had much more success this year.

replenished my tank on a free charging station in downtown garage today while I ate Cafe Luna lunch.

Love this car.

That grill-less front immediately brings to mind the image of Neo when Agent Smith sealed his mouth shut by joining together his lips so his mouth went away... PUT A GRILL ON THAT THING. The original car has a gorgeous grill, then the Model X reduced it to an awkward slit, and now, HOLY AWKWARDNESS!!!!

Why would you need a grille on an electric vehicle?

Aesthetics.

Because cars have come with grills till today. Even if a car doesn't need one, it still looks better and more "normal" with one. Model S has one, and it actually looks amazing compared to the front of Model X, let alone this new one.

I'm sure people thought steam wagons looked funny without the horses in front, too.

I think it is a beautiful car, but I still don't think the car is going to be $35k starting MSRP. I'll believe it when I see it. I also don't think anyone in North Carolina will see the car until, at best, near the end of 2018.

^ agreed - or at least nobody will want / order the base 35k model - I think 50 before tax incentives is more reasonable

With 130k preorders though the 200k limit for tax deductions will definitely be hit

Now up to 180M. Pretty crazy. For those that pre-ordered... Would you mind looking at your contract and see if your deposit is 'in escrow'. I am wondering if they are going to leverage the pre-order money as operating income.

No, I meant they now have collected 180 Million Dollars in reservations. And now they are up to 198M. Of course, that was over an hour ago. They have now exceeded 200M in revenue from reservations. I am going to guess they get to over 350M by the time the car is actually released.

Heheh. That means they are going to live off of that meat.

The Model X pro will be bigger than the X, and then a year later they will make a smaller version of the Model X Pro that is the same size as the X

Sigh, Model S now has the same upturned lip front like a mudskipper, with [almost] no grill.

Has a tiny slit of a grill like on the X, which still looks way better than the 3's no grill at all. By changing the S's front, they want to have a corporate design language, obviously. Then why not a slit on the 3's front?

^^What do you mean? For example my coworker pre-ordered one and there's a $6k credit in Colorado. Assuming it's still around when he gets his car (it might not be) he'd pay less than the $35k price. If he wanted to resell it you don't think he'd get more than what he paid for it?

^^I actually kind of dig the T-1000 esque no-grill front. Not a big fan of fake fascia anyway. Only downside is that area is gonna get rock-chipped to shit.

I like the no-grill too.

I'm not sure how the "buy two" would work out though, they're not shipping them FCFS i thought, so depending where youre seeded, you could just break even.

not to mention if there's too much of a premium, youre in the price range of paying a little more for an S. Seems like too big of a gamble...

I like, and can understand, the designs of EVs to be grill free. However, you cannot establish the foundation of your design language (Model S) with a grill, only to slightly modify it for the X and 3 with no grill. Looks like something is missing, and the front just looks too "blank".

There are plenty of great looking cars of the past that looked great without any sort of grill. Decades worth of air-cooled 911's come to mind, for instance.

That would function to control the premium on the X, but wouldn't make the situation a gamble. Any premium=good premium.

LOL, what has the world come to... the world's quickest accelerating car (and SUV too) to 60 mph is a 5,000+ lb full size electric sedan from a niche American manufacturer!

Too bad it can only do an acceleration run like that once or twice.

Unfortunately it can't even manage to do a single hot lap around a race track without going into limp mode to preserve it's battery pack.
