Yes on the mercenaries, they are at least 1/2 a team of players who are there for the money IMO. Hence the reason Nasri is headed that way...well and they actually won a trophy last season Doesn't mean they are any less skilled and surprisingly the team, well, maybe not Balotelli, but the rest of the team seems to play well off of each other.

However, that "suspect defense" was rated #1 in the EPL last season and as remained essentially the same (with the exception of Kolo Toure who will be back next month, and the additions of Savic & Clichy).

Because they're there for the money means I'm more inclined to think they won't jell as a team. They may play well off of each other here and there but nobody on that squad is going to put their body on the line for anyone else when they're up against it.

I would like to personally thank David Silva and Sergio Aguero. They moved me from dead last to 2nd in the yahoo league. At the end of the Saturday, I had -0.5 points. I was doing worse than the people in our group that didn't even bother setting line ups.

I'm more concerned with the Champions League hopes of Manchester City's feeder club at the moment.

Everybody's somewhere "for the money." United isn't paying their players in sunshines and rainbows.

Yea, you're right. There's no difference at all in the squads at United and City.

Manchester City are going to win the prem because they beat Swansea.

There's no difference in any of the teams anymore. If the money's better somewhere elsewhere, you're not getting the playing time you want, or your team isn't winning the trophies, then you're going to go somewhere else.

And stop acting like Manchester City is some random team in Saudi Arabia. They players aren't just collecting a paycheck. They did win a trophy last year and they are one of this year's title contenders, whether you want to admit it or not.

So they won the FA cup...big ups guys, take your seat next to Portsmouth. Doesn't make them title contenders because of that alone, and having won the FA cup isn't going to make more guys want to play there. People are going there because ManCity will double their wages. 160k/week rumored for Nasri? Fucking ludicrous.

Yea, I'll go back to lala-land now. Maybe you can show me the way though Ribs, cus any land where Spurs are anything but a selling club is lala-land.

Someone tell me why I'm supposed to be shitting my pants over ManCity? Practically the same team as last year. They've replaced Kolarov with Clichy, a negligible difference if any; and replaced Tevez with Aguero, which is a wash.

Didn't Rooney throw a fit and say he wanted to leave last year before he had millions upon millions heaped on him? I'm sure he stayed for the love of the badge and not the money, though...

They won the FA Cup and lost the Community Shield, and then shellacked a team that has a grand total of 3 players with previous EPL experience, one of which didn't even start.

Are you guys serious? City is a fucking joke, and you want to crown them champions already?

Aguero had a good game and managed to destroy a shit club. He won't do the same against real competition. Lord forbid he have someone competent actually tackle him.

Sit the fuck down.

Of course. AND to play in the Champions League. AND to have a shot at a title. This isn't a Qatari team throwing millions at players and not offering anything else.

What is Rooney per week? What is Young per week? Are they mercenaries too?

Wenger and Arsenal fans would love any trophy at this point. (and of course, Liverpool fans would too )

I wasn't crowning them champions, I was just saying this "mercenary" shit is stupid. Any club that wants to be successful has to pay their players a lot of money. Especially one like City that doesn't have a history or anything else to entice players to go.

Lol, kiljadn and blanks are so ridiculously sensitive.

Everyone here knows Man U is a better team and has a much better coach. You will probably finish on top of the table again. There is no need to get butthurt (mad) over some of us simply enjoying watching Aguero and Silva put on a show vs an over matched Swansea.

Lukaku officially joins Chelsea.

http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/18082011/63/lukaku-completes-dream-move.html

Teenage Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku declared it was a dream come true after completing his transfer to Chelsea from Anderlecht.
The London club confirmed on their website that the deal had been finalised after the two clubs agreed a fee, thought to be between £15million and £20million, for the highly-rated 18-year-old earlier this month.
He underwent a medical at the Blues' training ground in Cobham last week and will now be available for Saturday's Barclays Premier League game against West Brom and hje told Chelsea's official website: "Amazing. It's a dream come true."
He added: "I dreamed to play here since I was 10 years old, thinking about shaking hands with all those players like John Terry and Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba.
"It's amazing to arrive here in a big club with big ambition. It was just what I was searching for."

Don't worry guys, Wenger has promised to spend up for 40M on the right player(s) and is targeting some Ligue 1 midfielders no one has ever heard of plus Joel Campbell (teenage striker). All will be ok!

In the meantime, Scott Parker continues to fester in the Championship...

Yeah heard QPR is looking at Parker too, I don't see why a huge club doesn't buy him though, he can probably be purchased at a good bargain and is top quality.

Yes I've heard of Hazard and Mata but supposedly both of those deals are off. Last I heard was Wenger was putting in bids on a couple Ligue 1 guys that were relative no names outside of France. Not that I have a problem with it, I mean who knew much about Nasri before he came to England? I was just messing around with my other post, except for the part about Parker, I think he would do well at Arsenal.

Not ready to crucify Wegner yet either. In fact, I don't think I'm ready to judge until at least the mid-season mark, even if he signs no one else at this point.

He was touted as the next Zidane for atleast a couple years before Arsenal bought him.

While the silverware drought at Arsenal is definitely disappointing for Arsenal fans Wenger is still the right man for that job, I think. Gary Neville of all people wrote a good article about it. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2025700/Gary-Neville-Arsenal-fans-shouldnt-criticise-Arsene-Wenger.html

Lucky goal.. ugly game, but will take it

Arsenal's squad is just totally depleted and Liverpool doesn't have any chemistry right now. Way too many crosses into the box for Carroll (that was like the totality of their offense while he was in there). Looked a lot better with Suarez in there but still sloppy.

I thought the same thing... do they really have to try to find Carroll on every single cross, free kick, and corner?

I know it'll take some time for Kenny to really find the best combination of all the new/old players but I don't understand how Henderson's keeping Meireles out of the lineup. Suarez/Meireles are absolute must starts, imo.

It's dumb but I feel sorry for Wenger/Arsenal at this point. But if it means taking their CL place, then oh well, too bad.

^yea i know, it really is sad right now for them.. they are fielding a side that you would typically see at the bottom half of the standings. Weird to see that from Arsenal.

As far as Nasri goes.. how many players does City think are allowed on the field at one time, 30?? Crazy the amount of quality players they will have on the bench after another signing.

everton with their trademark terrible start.. If they weren't so terrible at the beginning of the season they could challenge for a Euro spot.

also, i don't like chelsea, and it seems like everyone here pretty much can't stand them... is there a main reason?

Chelsea looking toothless. Seems every pass is too soft or behind. I don't think Kalou likes Torres, seems to me like he ignores chances to pass to him and just does his own thing.
