Yes, there is a beer thread. I did not post in it.Similarly, there's a wonky-ass cave bitch thread, that I've never seen you post in.

Are there any new and exciting brew pubs in the Triangle or even Triad? I need to fill up activities when my parents are here in a few weeks! They like beer, wine and baseball and I think that's about it. Oh and restaurants on the water.
6/10/2010 10:31:03 PM
new? no idea. all i know in the triad is natty greene's (the one here actually brews beer) and the red oak brewery. and winston has foothills. but none of those are new or spectacular. have you ever been to any of the NC wineries? i haven't. i mean - nc wine - meh...but there are a bunch around Greensboro that at least look pretty from the pictures.
6/10/2010 10:36:28 PM
Well, they lived here for five years from 2000-2005 so they probably went to a lot of places then. I really never went home when I was in school (unless they were out of town and we could raid their hottub) even thought it was 45 mins away because I was a shitty son so I don't know where they've been. They would probably like any winerybut I don't know any in NC really except that one near the airport with the sign and after being spoiled by Napa/Sonoma/Livermore I don't know.

Rogue - I've checked out Portland and then the Issaquah Brewhouse in WA brews their own and is a Rogue Brewhouse. Never heard about or gotten to try any type of Dogfish Head that doesn't make it to good old Raleigh.Their limited batches are out of this world - John John Dead Guy Ale is Dead Guy aged in Rogue Bourbon barrels and John John Juniper Ale is the Juniper Ale aged in Rogue Gin barrels.I'm not impressed with Pyramid though. There's one right across from Safeco. The only thing they have going for them is the merger with Magic Hat.
6/11/2010 1:03:26 AM
Pyramid across from SafeCo is actually pretty fucking awful

Their 120-minute IPA rocks my world. It takes me from zero to wasted in about ten minutes.
6/11/2010 7:48:39 AM
i like 120 minute, but I think 90 minute is better (I personally don't like 60 minute that much)I really like raison d'etre and the imort ale
6/11/2010 8:21:12 AM
90-minute is tastier, but I like the potency of 120.
6/11/2010 8:23:49 AM
isn't it something like 18%?silliness!! but still... nom nom nom
6/11/2010 8:25:01 AM

I really do love DFH. I wish they were a little closer so we could get some of their tap-room specials/locals only brews around here. Would love to have a fridge stocked with some Lawnmower for the summer

i cant legally ship booze from DE (or into for that matter, it sucks, can't order things online)but i bring stuff down to people in raleigh all the time if you want an orderjust dont ask for 120 minutethere's been a weird thing the last few months where they havent brewed/distributed any 120 to anywhere.plus people seem to ask for like, a lot of 120 and not understand how exorbitantly expensive it is. (one guy was very unhappy when i delivered him 24 120 minutes, and handed him the receipt to be reimbursed...)one of the greatest specials ive ever seen though was the sports bar down the street used to have a $2.50 local beer night, and that included the 90 minutes... my group would go in every tuesday night and drink all the 90minutes in stock, then leave to go elsewhere hahait is cool to have dfh seasonals on tap like, everywhere i go though
6/11/2010 10:07:51 AM
Dogfish Head sucks so bad. Its the most hippy overhyped beer ever.Ever.
6/11/2010 11:12:57 AM
