"Florida International, Louisiana Tech, North Texas, Texas San Antonio, Charlotte and Old Dominion will join C-USA giving the league 14 members. However, it's not clear how soon after 2013 Charlotte, which is beginning its football program in 2013, and ODU, currently in the FCS, would be able to compete as a C-USA football member.

When completed, Conference USA's new 14-team league is expected to be split into two divisions: East - East Carolina, FIU, Marshall, Southern Miss, UAB, Charlotte and ODU; West - Louisiana Tech, North Texas, Rice, Texas San Antonio, Tulane, Tulsa and UTEP."

How is that CUSA better than the A10? I guess football but that basketball league is gonna suck. It will be nice to be in D1A for football on the first go around.

I take that football paRt back - looking at that west division, that is sorry as shit

I've read some rumors in the aftermath of the $2.6 billion TV contract for the Big 12 of Clemson and Florida State going there. Is this just fan-invented bullshit or is there something to it?

actually the East Coast, being on an Amero-trailing edge plate, would be underwater before the west coast

wonder what kind of rivalry Charlotte and ECU will eventually have

fuck em if they leave, they're not an original ACC school anyway

although they're more 'original' than BC, VT, MIA

Their years of shitty football are the reason our tv contract pales in comparison to the sec.

If they and miami had been remotely nationally relevant in the last 5 years, the acc would have had a comparable contract to the sec.

if FSU leaves, i hope the ACC gets Notre Dame not UConn.

If we care at all about academics, we cant take uconn

that and chicago is a short drive from south bend

they are preseason top 10 every year then they lose to Wake and don't get to play in the championship game.

Wish my work didn't block radio. I'd like to listen to David Glenn's show at noon for once.

not from the above article but elsewhere:

Quote :
"Of the few who still support FSU staying in the ACC, most cite the number of well-regarded academic institutions within the conference. However, Haggard scoffed at the idea that the ACC somehow helps FSU's academic reputation.

"No FSU graduate puts on his resume or interviews for a job saying they are in the same conference as Duke and Virginia," he said. "Conference affiliation really has no impact on academics.""

Finally, we found a college administrator that has an ounce of common sense.

ACC never had the infrastructure to compete with the SEC or Big Ten in terms of football deal. FSU never had much in common with the flagship ACC schools anyway. If they can get more money for their football machine then they should go for it.

Curious why you say that? UConn is 58th nationally now and higher than Pitt, Syracuse, Clemson, Va Tech, NC State and FSU. Surely you're not judging an institutions academic prestige on their basketball program are you?

No, that's exactly my point. they (along with miami, clemson, and vt) were supposed to be the powerhouse teams in this twelve team super league. None of them have competed for a national championship and are not really of any relevance nationally. That's why the acc deal isn't as good as they think it should be, BECAUSE THEY HAVE SUCKED. Not some crackpot idea about catering to the nc schools.

FSU and Miami/Clemson (and Louisville and Cincinatti) to Big XII
NC State and VPI to SEC
MD (and Rutgers) to B1G 10

ND, UConn, South Florida to ACC

And to compound that... if those teams were any good they should be cruising to undefeated seasons in the lowly, lowly ACC.

actually, at least 75% of them wouldn't, because for one of them to go undefeated requires three of the others to lose

and when did Clemson get foisted up as one of these alleged super teams? did I miss that meeting? Danny Ford left the building in the 1980s and all Clemson has had since is Bowden blowing it with a loss late every year and giving up 70 points to West Virginia in the Orange Bowl

the Clemson fanbase is just as much out of touch with reality when it comes to where they think they are compared to their actual level of play as Texas A&M fans are

Clemson has been better than fsu and miami recently. Also please remind me of another acc team that has had a national championship in football in the last 50 years.

seriously its not going to happen.

even if the likes of FSU and some other teams leave, ESPN would pay a shit ton of money for a basketball league with UNC & Duke. (and Pitt and Cuse and all those other teams like NCSU)
