If you're still under 30 days, you should be able to. Otherwise, you can just return them, wait 3 days and get the new deal without paying a restocking fee.

The Droid still lists as $199 online for me. Only difference is it's now Buy a Droid, Get a Droid instead of Buy a Droid, Get an Eris

My sister is considering joining Verizon for a Droid within the next week or so. Are there any phones coming out within the next couple of weeks/month that it'd be worth waiting on?

Other than the Devour, there doesn't seem to be much coming android related. The Verizon Nexus One is also coming sometime this spring.

Has anyone tried using swype for android? I just installed it on my droid today and am loving it. I've been using it for about half an hour and my speed is already a bit faster than typing on either of the keyboards.

Sony Ericsson X1 is supposed to come out "early Q2" on ATT, HTC's Supersonic is supposed to be out 1H on Sprint. There are others too. I'm trying to hold out for one of these newer 1GHz phones...

snapdragon apparently isn't all it's cracked up to be. Plus who needs it, I'm clocked to 1.1GHz on my droid.

The plan I would get works out about $9 cheaper per month with Sprint (b/c of work discounts) so I'm thinking I'll go with them, but don't REALLY want a Hero or Moment.

I think this was discussed before, but how's your battery life with the overclock? and is it heating up a lot?

Battery life is still good. If anything it seems to have gotten a little better. I didn't have a temp monitor on the stock rom but usually get around 100F after 10-15min of browsing

I'm not even sure I'll upgrade when its released. At least not until it's rooted and someone makes a custom rom. Running Bugless Beast @ 1.1GHz with wifi tether. Its great. The same guy has released a 2.1 rom but it seems a little quirky.

Saps- what are you trying to do? Afaik you can only enable javascript

^i wouldn't hold your breath. i think the supersonic is the only sprint android phone on the way, and i wouldn't be surprised if that came in the 2nd half of the year.

also, bing cashback on wirefly.com is now $100. so that makes the droid $-50

rooted my phone, and installed "wireless tether for root users".....

....everything seems to work fine, and the log file is all good. When I connect to it, it seems that i don't have internet access. I can see 1kb here and there get up/downloaded, but no internet connection. Anyone else have this problem?

Did you install one of the kernels that support it? Not sure if it works on the stock one. Easiest way is to get one of the custom roms that have a modded kernel.

no, i just rooted and installed the tether. What rom do you recommend? I saw one Buggless Beast or whatever, but it looks rather involved to install. Do you guys think that I should wait until 2.1 is released, and try to get a rom based off it?

As mentioned earlier the HTC Incredible will be Verizon's next bad boy

^^ shouldn't be too hard now especially with all the tools available. I took the long drawn out way when I did mine but luckily there was a step by step guide (which seems to have disappeared). Now there's a tool called droidmod that's free. http://downloads.droidmod.org/dmupdater-10.apk can pretty much do it all for you. When downloaded, it'll download and install the latest SPRecovery (should be 99.3b) image and flash. The recovery image is what you need to flash the nandroid backup of the roms or the update files. Once you get that going, it's a breeze. Below is one guide that does a walkthrough except it used the paid droid root helper app instead of droidmod

^^^ok i should read more. The stock kernel doesn't support wifi tether. I'll wait a little longer on the 2.1 roms, although they seem to already be out in the wild.

Don't want to get anybody's hopes up yet, but a CDMA version of the Nexus One has made its way through the Federal Communications Commission. Does that mean we're going to get the Nexus One on Sprint or Verizon? Not necessarily. It just means the hardware (Read our Nexus One review) has been tested and approved. [FCC via CellPhoneSignal]"

"Nexus One reportedly coming to Verizon on March 23
Posted on Friday, Feb 26, 2010 by Erica Marchand

Drum roll, please ... We've known for a while that the Nexus One would be coming to Verizon. We just didn't know when. Well it seems that we have finally gotten a date. March 23 is the date that the much awaited Nexus One reportedly will be available. According to an anonymous source, speaking to NeoWin:

The Nexus One, originally released on T-Mobile in January, has passed FCC inspection for use on Verizon's CDMA network and according to a Google worker who wishes to remain anonymous it will be made available on March 23.

We don't know how much it's going to cost on the Verizon Network, but currently the Nexus one is selling for $529 unlocked, or $179 with a two year contract from T-mobile. [neowin]"

I'm going to foray into the smart phone world...is it necessary to have a "text" package do be able to send texts? Why is it not possible with the data plan to send out text messages?
