Last Thursday I was DDing my buddy and 3 of his friends to the bars downtown, in Wilmington, around 11pm since he was giving me a ride to the airport the next day.
On Market St near Kerr I saw a cop pull onto the street. I was not speeding going maybe 5 over 45 in a 40, had not been drinking, thus
thought nothing of passing the cop. I keep driving for about a mile and right before hitting downtown the cop randomly turns on his lights
for me to pull over.

I honestly had no fucking clue what he could be pulling me for. So sitting on the side of the road the Cop walks up and immidiatly
its obvious what his hidden motives were...

Officer DoucheBag: "Good evening, I pulled ya over because your Tag Light is out; you guys have not been PARTYING HAve Ya?"

Me: "Oh, well this is a rental car I got after the floods last week; and I'm just DROPPING my buddies off downtown"

Officer DoucheBag: "License and Registation Please"

ME: "Just a sec I need to find the registration for this Rental"

*Hands lic and registration over; cop takes paperwork goes back to car for a few mins then comes back

Officer DoucheBag: "Well I'll let ya go with a verbal warning this time . "
THANKS Officer considering this is a fucking Rental how fucking irresponsible for me to not ensure each and every light (including the
License Plate Tag Light) was working at 3PM on a sunny afternoon when i got my rental

Officer DoucheBag: "You BOYS better not have too much fun b.c we'll be out here to catch ya drunk drivers"

Me: "No, the only fun I will be having is going home and going to bed since I have work tomorrow morning."

Officer Douchebag "A light being out will get ya pulled everytime so be sure to get that fixed, have a good night"

The kicker to this whole store is after dropping my friends off downtown, I went home and checked. Not a single light was out including
my tag light. This is as expected since Enterprise put me in a new 09 Colbalt that barely had 5000 miles.

Discrimination is the only reason this asshole cop pulled me. I bet he saw 5 "college aged" looking males (we were all 23+ and only two of
the four are in college) and got a hard on for potentially giving a DUI or smelling Pot. Perhaps our Police Budget should be on the
chopping block next time we have budget cuts if our cops are so bored that they have the time (using tax payer money) to pull over
otherwise law-abiding motorist for Tag Lights being out; searching for trouble.

I'm seriously considering writing a letter to my town councilman or filing a complaint with the district police office.
As a 24yr old law abiding tax paying citizen working as an engineer at the 2nd biggest employer in the city; I find this outrageous.
Individuals can not even be responsible DD's for drunk drivers without getting harassed by the cops.

I could tell 4-5 stories exactly like this (a couple that are much worse) but the bottom line is that if the only thing the "asshole cop" did was make you 2 minutes late to where ever you were going, then you really need to find some better things to complain about.

Yeah, like I said in the other thread. I got pulled in Greensboro for going 57 in a 55.

Officer: Do you have any idea how fast you were going?
Me: 57 or 58.
Office: That's right... and I'm going to let you go with a warning this time.

As I drove away I saw that the guy had another person pulled even before I got out of rear-view range.

Was this in Raleigh? If so, the cop really should have been out taking care of real criminals. You know, like the ones at college parties. That's all the Raleigh cops ever seem to do.

No. Its abuse of power. The cops that are doing this need to be fired. If this had happened to me, even though it would have taken up 2 minutes of my time, I would have spent weeks of my own time filing every sort of complaint and appeal until it got noticed.

I have had this happen to me when I was younger (maybe 18-19 years old.) I was DD'ing a friend's car and got pulled. Cop made me do a breathalyzer and everything. My buddy, who owned the car, confirmed the following day that the brake lights were fine. We just got pulled for being a group of young guys out at night.

Drinking = $$$ for paving highways, roads, etc. You weren't the first and not the last guy he has done/will pull over the future. Go ahead and write that letter to the city council, one of the major issues on elected officials platforms is DUI convictions, I'm sure they are going to quit putting resources into what helps them get re elected. You must have missed the highway commercials that come on around every major drinking holiday. I would have asked him to see the tail light out and would have made it out like the rental car company was the culprit, and asked the officer if you could see the light out so you know what he's talking about to inform the renatl company. When you got to the back of the car with the officer to inspect the light, he would have had to change his tune if what you're saying about the light is true. Wouldn't have changed the outcome of you being inconvienienced, but if you needed to do something to help you sleep over it, that would have been the thing to do.

^yeah I would have done that too. I'm well aware that everything on my car is properly working so I'd want him to point it out.

I realize it was a rental so like you I wouldn't have checked beforehand. However I definitely would ask the cop to show me.

Abuse of power, my ass. He pulled him over for a simple traffic stop and let him go after he saw he wasn't drunk. Wash the sand out of your vagina, you queen. Abuse of power would have been if he took him out of the car, patted him down, called in a K9 unit to sniff the car, intimidated him into an illegal search of his trunk or any number of other bullshit things that cops do. This case was just a simple little stop and he was on his way in a couple of minutes. If you're complaining about stupid shit like this, consider yourself lucky that you don't have any real problems in your life.

What exactly is a "simple traffic stop" or a "random check"?
Are you under the impression that cops can just stop you for no reason?
This cop allegedly pulled him over because a tail-light was out... which allegedly wasn't.
If HUR is correct on the details, this cop demonstrated textbook abuse of power -- cops don't get to just pull people over willy nilly.

thats what the majority of traffic laws are for though. when nearly everyone is breaking a law, it allows you to detain whomever you damn well please and then search for other ways to ruin their lives.

i've never heard of stuff like this, so its a good "make sure the DD is sober" post to me. i still wouldn't call him an asshole cop or 'Officer Douchebag' like the little immature frat prick you are though. its good to see the cops are out there gunning for you and your frat brothers, making the road safer for us

one of my buddies recently called in a complaint on a cop who was using a handicap spot at a mcdonalds. he got called back quite a few times and evidently they had this big internal investigation on it

He allegedly pulled someone over for no reason at all -- he should at least get fired, if not prosecuted.

What do you mean "you fucks"? Like I, individually, am in any part responsible for what 98% of my demographic does?
Are you even aware that racism, sexism and prejudice are wrong? You don't seem to be.... or you don't care....

Jesus Fucking Christ.

I have never heard anyone be such a little bitch before. You claim you weren't speeding, but then say you were going 45 mph in a 40 mph zone? Hate to break it to you, but that is speeding.

I can only WISH more cops were like this guy. He did not harrass you, he simply investigated a situation that had the potential to be serious. Let's not pretend like it's unheard of that a rental car packed with college kids might have a drunk driver. Obviously he quickly figured out that you were in fact doing the right thing, he totally left you alone. He very easily could have cited you for speeding, but he did not. As a matter of fact, I am willing to bet you were going faster than you said, but that's just speculation on my part. What is not speculation is that you are a whiny little douchebag who needs to grow the fuck up.

Oh STFU. If you're a person of even modest intelligence then you know that a ticket for 45 in a 40 would be thrown out in court faster than I just typed this post.

The only time I've ever been harassed, the DA completely threw it out of court, and did away w/ the court fees. But, then again, that harassment resulted in an actual ticketn I actually waived at the asshat trooper in traffic last week.

You're feelings were hurt, boo hoo.
