i actually looked at the machine the other day cause of this thread. (never used one before cause its a credit card eating monster)

it definitely says dollar per day, no more charges after SOMETHING LIKE 20 days and its yours to keep.

but im sure that was said already like 60 times

i couldnt get a good picture but here it is

as you can see no "per night" anywhere in sight, also its hard to see but it says return anytime anywhere above the screen.
anyways its clear their motive it to mislead someone who is in a hurry and doesnt have time to scour this machine for all messages,

okay man at least be honest, and if not with us then with yourself.

It never displays the per night logo right by the screen. Look at the images of red boxes that are distributed through this thread. per night is clearly labeled but not on the 2ft x 2ft portion you highlighted.

Use the following as an example

Perhaps you should take an appropriate image if you're looking for people to understand your honest mistake.

Think harder son.

He rented the DVD before he came up with the $300 fish tank budget. We can reasonably expect that the $300 budget was taking into account the $1 DVD rental giving him a total budget of $301. $301 - $9 = $292. Now if it was a $9 fee on top of the $1 rental you'd be right, but he didn't say anything to indicate that and I doubt you're smart enough to have picked up on it anyway.

im loling at the red boxes i spot around town too

and wonder how many idiots are out there thinking this

i swear i thought this thread was a joke when i first read it but who thinks a rental costs $1 forever?

i just googled redbox scam for kicks to see what i could get. everyone seems to complain about them charging for extra days even though they returned the movie within a day or two.. still haven't found anyone shocked by the $1/day charge.

this one was funny though

Quote :
"I rented a dvd from reddbox. When I returned the movie, I discovered that my son had put another dvd in the case that I had returned. It was an otis Redding cd that belonged to my husband.
I panicked! I called the company to try and correct the matter.

They told me to mail the dvd in. Of course, I wanted my dvd back and I asked how could I get it back. The lady told me that I could call back in a couple of weeks. I could not meet with anybody to try and retrieve my cd. Since then, I have called several times, but have not been successful in getting my cd back. I have been told different things by different people when I call. Don't rent movies from REDBOX. They are a SCAM. They are not honest and is not a good business. I also blame Walmart for having them on their property."

lol wat

I just rented 10 movies from redbox. as long as I have them back by 9 tomorrow, I'm golden. 10 movies added to my collection for $10 sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me

ps: I will have them returned in about 2 hours

Don't Red Box machines read the barcode that's exposed through the cutout in the plastic case to identify the serial number of the movie that was put in there? I would think it would spit out a DVD if it were detected improperly, or at least notify you.

Who knows.

what if you use one of those visa gift cards to rent the movie

what happens if you never bring it back? or can you even use those to rent?

If they let you use them at all, they probably put a hold for the purchase price on the card, ie $25.00, until it is returned. If you don't return it the $25.00 charge applies, if you do, they just charge the rental fee.

I doubt they would let you use a gift card to rent them.

I love redbox btw. I probably rent at least 2 movies a week from there.
