My posts were all as serious as he deserved, especially after he derailed a good, productive debate in the gun thread.

the dealership doesn't have any off-lease shoulders with leather, but he promised me that the Korean models are good quality now and they have leather and nav. With financing now, a new shoulder is basically the same price as off-lease so I'll probably get a new Korean shoulder (apparently they are made in Alabama)

What kind of auto insurance do you have where it covers a flat tire?

which part did you like specifically?

the part where he was high or the part where black men are dumb because their fathers left?

explain to me how society keeps black men from leaving their baby mommas

of course what he said reflects reality, but its not something we or him can "fix."

the chief reason being i dont think these black males want "fixing."

It's an obvious issue in America that needs addressing. Maybe it can't be "fixed", but it can be improved.

(and if we can't keep the families together, more abortions!!)

i mean more abortions, fine whatever, thats a simple logical and demonstrable "solution."

but dont state the obvious, the dissolution of the black family, and blame 4th grade reading comprehension on it.

sure there is an obvious tie, but again, what the fuck is the government going to do about it?

when i was in elementary school all the kids from obviously shitty/broken homes were in remedial classes and the ones i still track on fb have minimum wage jobs. explain to me how obama could have changed their lives if he was president 20-30 years ago?

otherwise this is just another well-intentioned yet hollow speech from our backpatter-in-chief.

create a program that focuses more attention on it and looks for solutions? i mean, come on man, we know that he isn't going to change any lives, but it's not like this is a bad thing.

would the program youre referring to focus on the broken family or the dumb kids at school?

because as i mentioned they are already stuck in remedial classes. what is the point of those existing if the end result is still failure?

do remedial classes lead to leaving the baby momma?

am i being a racist?

What about all of the young white males (and females) growing up in single family homes? Why make a program to just help black males in that situation?

why not make a program to help single-parent kids... no race or gender attached. if black males make up the vast majority of those people, then naturally they would receive the majority of the benefit.

he could have stopped the stupid war on drugs before it gained so much momentum. This policy, more than any other in this time frame, has disproportionately affected black males, so much so that it has led to the almost total breakdown of the black family structure.

Russia still isn't the #1 geopolitical threat to the US, so I fail to see what the problem is.

Russia wants Crimea under their thumb. Ok.

Explain how Russia is now more of a threat to the US than extremist Muslim terrorism.

This isn't really a partisan scenario that has a conservative/liberal dichotomy. I'm not sure why people are trying to frame it this way. We can't "free market" our way out of this problem. I understand people wanting to hate Obama, but this isn't a good issue to try and beat him with.

Whether you're a liberal or conservative, getting into a direct military conflict with Russia is a bad thing no matter how you look at it. This is to be avoided if at all possible. Standing by our treaties is also of utmost importance. There are other diplomatic nuances I'm sure that none of us could even fathom. An offhand comment by Romney, and especially Palin, has literally zero bearing on this situation. Conservatives like things to be black and white, and this isn't a black and white situation.

^ I agree with most of that, which is why I don't put too much stock in this ongoing shit. But, you have to admit that Russia acting in this manner pretty much goes to show that they don't give a single shit about what Obama says, and that's not the most comforting thought. I mean, he said "hey, we need to chat this out" and Russia essentially said "fuck off, we'll do what we want."

Russia thumbing their noses at threats of military action does not surprise me or bother me. Our reputation around the world shouldn't be of aggressive dictators. Republicans always used to say they don't want United States being the world police, and this signifies a shift in that perception. I perceive economic consequences being very viable if russia does try something, and thus far they haven't tried something. The solution to this problem is not going to play out in the news media as much as the news wants it to, it's going to play out in closed-door meetings. We won't really know what will happen until after it happens.

If you think about it, it's pretty dumb for modern developed countries to settle scores by murdering each other's soldiers which have no direct connection to the leadership. Certain parts of the media seem to think that because we can't just put a gun at putins head and tell him to back off, that means we're weak or we don't have power or we don't have status, but this isn't really the case. This is a combination of the Dunning Kruger effect, as well as the effects of television, and politicians know that they can play off this to get votes.

Correction: Russia has tried something, but no shooting yet. Either they actually want to seize the land of Crimea, or they are using it as a bargaining chip for something else?

It would be very bad if it turns out that the US and NATO are unable to control Russia. Putin does seem a little off his rocker, and who knows where that mentality could lead.

^^i usually ignore your comments on "serious" subjects, but you do realize what "statistics" are, right? Just because you happen to know a single-mom who's white doesn't mean there are just as many single white moms as single black moms. There is much higher percentage of single black moms than single white moms. It's a fact.

Nuclear powers don't really have to give a fuck what anyone else has to say. That's why Iran wants them so bad, that's why N. Korea has been going on and on about how they have that capability now, that's why we're likely never going to see another large scale war in Europe. It's probably the only reason India and Pakistan haven't had a full scale war yet.

We're not going to do shit to Russia and they know it. If we were a large scale trading partner with them economic sanctions might do something, but we aren't so that particular tool isn't of any real use. The most we can do is bluster and threaten, we can't actually do anything.

Ukraine is fucked unless other European nations (namely Germany) or China get involved via economic sanctions.

Which in my book, is just as important as the job of the president.

And my comments earlier were geared toward the fact that he was awarded the Nobel Peace prize way too early. Based on what? His supposed intelligence and all of the great things he was going to do. No partisan hackery there. I just don't think the guy is doing a good job.

But back on point, I think his cabinet is in shambles. I shudder every time I hear Hagel speak - he's as bad as George Jr when it comes to public speaking. And Kerry couldn't maneuver his way out of a paper bag. You can guess how I feel about the Attorney General. Lew is somewhat untested at this point, and Sebellius...lol.

His public statements are too noncommittal. He doesn't speak as if he views himself as a leader or authority, or that he views the us as the de facto leader of NATO. He flubbed the Syria thing big time, and on this issue, I get the feeling like he hasn't been paying attention in any of the meetings he's been in, or he hasn't gone to any meetings.
