i tried to call my parents...they didn't pick up the phone (which isn't at all unusual)

their loss, i guess (though i really like to pass along stuff like this whenever possible)

I just found out according to bensbargains, that this sale is going on until 6am online.

They have tons of other washer/dryer combos for sale too, go check it out (they even have gas ones).

how $1100? The deal was only $600 off MSRP

I got it for $810+tax after discount

i heard the manager ripped the $899 sign off and told his floor people to stop selling them @8:30

since sears was selling the gas version for ($50?) more, some people in the forum claimed that they were able to get the $810 deal even on the gas version, and others claimed they got it for $860...i don't have gas, so it really didn't matter much to me (though the next house i build/buy WILL have gas, so help me)

there are also mixed reports about getting the blue version (the $810 deal was only regarding the white, supposedly) for the same price or just slightly above

at the store in cary, the tags on the appliances in the back had them for $828/each (so $1767.78 after tax) and they didn't tell me about the delivery rebate (which, i realize, wasn't hard to figure out, but i, personally, didn't know about it until i read the forum, and the lowes people didn't tell me, so add another $62.98 after tax) for a total of $1830.76

okay, so it was closer to $1000 (i don't know where i was getting the $1100 from )

it also didn't REALLY save me the money, since i had no intention of spending more than $1000 on a set in the first place, and even then i was looking more around $600 for a used pair on craigslist...but for the extra ~$250, why not go new?

also, the wiki claims the silver pedestals are on sale for $28/each (i don't care if the silver doesn't match the white), so i think i might try to pick those up today...you can also buy the $20 kit from sears to make them stack, but the shelving in my laundry area precludes me from doing this, so i'll probably just put them next to each other

$1k or $1.1k, i'm stoked

oh wait looks like I was off with the $1500 thing. The washer was orig 850 and the dryer was the same so MSRP was $1700. And you got them for $810 (before tax) with the 10% PM policy at Lowes? Sears also had the free delivery (after rebate)

oh hey if you find those pedestals anywhere locally can you let me/us know?

costs a lot to get front loaders fixed, i know that. i have a 25 year old top loading set that is still rockin'.

i need stackable front loaders for more room in my pantry, but can't stomach spending this much. still waiting on a good craigslist deal.

actually, going back to check, lowes has them for $898/each (though that's blue, the white ones might be cheaper), so that's $1917.23 after tax...and yeah, the free delivery and installation is actually in the form of a visa debit card (but you can use that anywhere)...assuming that's all the same, though, retail would have been $1052.55 more than this deal

i called the two in garner and the two in cary, and neither of them even had the item number come up (which, in the forums, someone said would happen if they no longer had them in stock, since they're clearance)...so no go on those, i guess

also, anyone who's bought new washer/dryer before, what do i need? just a plug (i think new houses come with 4, but a lot of older ones are 3...i'll check when i get home) and the hoses for the washer? should i have to buy a venting kit? this "free" delivery also (supposedly) includes installation, so i'd rather go ahead and get everything i need

If you already have a washer/dryer then you should be able to use the existing exhaust and the washer will come with the drain hoses.
