that shit is a LONG way away from here, and you would have to be crazy to ride there on something that a man made and said it would make it there and back. so, sure i still believe it.

we landed there 6 times, left shit behind and brought shit back, I'd say yes, you can get a laser return if you hit the reflector package they left there for orbital measurements

i am skeptical, esp with our failed space program history. we miraculous pulled this one off juuuust when it counted (cold war).

And if you believe we did that shit in 1969, then with all the advancements in technology, why are we unable to make it back until 2018?

I am all for funding space travel/exploration. again its just amazing to me that we did this 30 years ago and yet are unable to repeat the process, considering the exponential leaps in technology.

In 1969, the "one small step for man" speech was heard clear as day from the moon, which is 384,000 km away. and THAT is with 1969 technology. So why does my cell phone still drop calls?

^ I don't buy that. if you believe we did it in 1969 with 1969 technology, you'd have to feel safe doing it today

"It was supposed to parachute gently back to Earth, where a helicopter would snag it mid-air before any jarring impact could dislodge the precious solar particles. But the Genesis' parachute failed to open, sending the craft and its ethereal cargo slamming straight into the Utah desert. Agency investigators later found that its deceleration sensors were installed backwards."

yet we still have problems. not faulting them, it is rocket science....

who is this 'you'? do 'you' want to ride to the moon? they were trying to prove a point back then. we don't really need to prove such a point these days. no one is stupid enough to ride somewhere were there is no possible rescue mission available to save them.

^^ no, but I have not chosen to be an astronaut by trade. that is like asking me if I want to go fight in Iraq, or if I want to perform open heart surgery. My point is I am sure there are plenty of astronauts that would jump at the chance to ride to the moon.

but seriously, if you are an astronaut you know you have a dangerous fucking job. any time you get launched into space for any mission you could die. so why would going to the moon be any different?

okay, who put a mirror on the moon to shoot lasers at?

where did the several hundred pounds of lunar rocks (still being studied today) brought back from the several moon missions come from, if not the moon?

i believe that we went, just that the televised event was staged. the timing was just too perfect, the transmission too clear. and our government is pretty good at deceiving the populous.

"Some residents of Australia saw a different broadcast to the rest of the World. Just before Neil Armstrong steps onto the Moon's surface, the picture goes from a stark black to a brighter picture. NASA claimed that no artificial lighting was carried along on the mission. As they watched Armstrong walking on the surface of the Moon they spotted a Coke bottle that was kicked in the right hand side of the picture. The next day, the footage had been edited and the offending Coke bottle had been cut out of the film. Several viewers had seen the bottle and several articles appeared in The West Australian newspaper. Western Australia received their coverage in a different way to the rest of the World. They were the only Country where there wasn't a delay to the 'live' transmission. "
