Only 333 R8 GTs will be made, and only 90 of those will come to the US.

To be able to get your hands on one, one must have serious cash AND connections.

He is the CEO of a decently sized company (not in North Carolina).

Im excited to see it, itll be the only "supercar" ive ever actually been able to poke around and really take a good look at. Not to mention, I've never ridden in anything nearly as fast as its supposed to be.

really, if you drive an exotic to a race where people are racing a version of the car you might want in the near future... you can pretty easily meet the people you want to, to get you into that car.

Just went out for a Sunday afternoon drive with my boss in his C6 Z51, a pilot friend from work in his SRT-10 Viper, and a retired corporate lawyer that we know from the bar in his 997 GT3.

you really can't call a viper boring i mean the thing is potting your demise the entire time you're driving it... you just don't know it.

I don't know if i'd consider a gtr an exotic anymore..... but man they're getting intriguing.

I saw one with a tune, a turbo back exhaust and an air filter that ran a 10.9 and are still on stock turbos so is regular track drivable too..... that's friggin awesome.

Probably needs a new clutch setup but still.

some of the guys in here mistake "exotic" with "cars I want to own/drive," so you're bound to get a no to that

I would say yes- no longer in production, low numbers released here, and I think they are cool cars- coulda used a V8 though.

I would say "no". Of course, there's lots of stuff in this thread that isn't exotic...just, well, noteworthy.

Like, the SRT-10 Viper or Porsche GT-3 don't really count as exotic, but they're a little noteworthy. The two of them together on a drive with 2 vettes was enough cumulative coolness that I posted it in here.

Hmm, I wonder if there was a PCA event at CMP or Roebling Road and these fellas were just chilling afterwards.

Sweet fucking car(s). If I come across a Carrera GT at the DE this weekend in Charlotte I'll probably need to change my shorts.

NO ONE!

however if i was making some james bond shit like a license plate tumbler i would look up similar cars on the internet to make sure the plates at least matched the make and model. I guess the only other shortcut would be to go to a car show for that model of car.

Saw a black Aston Martin from the patio at Vivace. Dude circled the lot 3 times until a spot directly in front of the restaurant opened up for him. Then he got out, walked one lap around the place and then left after no one said anything to him.

Then everyone in the place sighed collectively and said "What a douche" in unison.

Quote :
"Police grab $2 million worth of cars after Canadian street race

This could be the plot for a movie, "Fast and Furious Canada," or maybe "Fast and Furious, the Young and the Rich."

Police in British Columbia say they impounded $2 million worth of high-end vehicles this week after witnesses reported the 13 cars racing on a metro Vancouver highway at speeds of 125 mph (200 kph).

The high-end race cars included a Ferrari, Lamborghinis, Maseratis, an Audi, an Aston Martin, Nissans and a Mercedes, according to a Royal Canadian Mounted Police press release.

Two of the racers would run side-by-side to block other traffic going in their direction on the highway while the others cars would take off in a race, witnesses told the RCMP.

"These drivers seemed to be looking for attention. Well, they definitely got the attention of police," Cpl. Holly Marks, spokesperson for the Lower Mainland District Regional Police Service, said in the press release.

What the racers, who police said are all under age 21, won't get is harsh punishment.

"Each driver will be charged with Driving without Reasonable Consideration and receive a violation ticket with a specified penalty of $196. Additionally, these drivers will be responsible for all associated towing and storage charges," according to the RCMP press release.

That's because police didn't actually catch them in the act and acted only on witness accounts. They weren't caught on radar, video or seen by a police officer, Superintendent Norm Gaumont, RCMP officer in charge of traffic enforcement for the Lower Mainland, told the Surrey Now newspaper.

"I know there's a lot of disappointment, wondering why we only charged them with an offence of $196. They fact of the matter is, we have to look at all the evidence we have and what we're able to prove," Surrey Now quoted Gaumont as saying. "That's why we've charged them with driving without due consideration for the public."

If police were able to charge the 13 drivers with more severe offenses, they could have faced forfeiture of their vehicles, according to a Vancouver Sun report.

The RCMP said most of the drivers were operating their vehicles on "N" class licenses, which means they had not yet attained full driving privileges. Only one of the drivers was the registered owner of the car they were driving, Gaumont told Surrey Now.

The drivers included 12 men and one woman, according to Surrey Now. Gaumont told the paper they were on their way to have a meal when they decided to race.

According to the Sun, the vehicles were:

2007 Ferrari 599
2010 Lamborghini Gallardo
2010 Lamborghini Gallardo
2009 Lamborghini Gallardo
2009 Audi R8
2012 Nissan GT-R
2010 Nissan GT-R
2010 Nissan GT-R
2010 Maserati Turismo
2010 Maserati Turismo
2011 Mercedes SL63
2011 Mercedes SLS
2005 Aston Martin DB9"

Yep. I'm here, actually--at NAS Pensacola, though, not Whiting Field. I'm staying at the Navy Lodge on base right now.

I really don't want to live in Pace...it will be a really long commute to work, and it's far from the restaurants and nightlife in Pensacola...and not as close to the beach as I'd prefer. Mostly, it's the work commute, though. However, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to live in the same school district as my ex, because I haven't yet figured out how to manage having my daughter half the time without her being able to ride the school bus.

If I could logistically work things out so that I could live near Pensacola Regional airport, or maybe even in Gulf Breeze, that would be way better...but I'm not that optimistic.

Very interested to hear some more details about that "submersible" boat. It looks just like the ones at our SBI races, so I'm skeptical about that. You can't really submerge a boat, for a lot of reasons. The first including that the engines require air to operate. The second being that a boat is designed for buoyancy, so it would require an assload of ballast to get it under the water. Also the hull of that boat is definitely designed to provide hydrodynamic lift, which would combat any submersion. I think a submersible one would look massively different.

It looks just like your average canopied (albeit an expensive, turbine-powered) boat to me.

The lines and turbine engines looks like something MTI would to do me.
http://marinetechnologyinc.com/2011/03/mti-48-foot-cat-sets-the-pace/

I'm assuming he meant that the boat can crash through a swell and survive rather than getting swamped. I knew a guy who got a bad bounce on a 26' Donzi and ended up with water almost up to his knees after he crashed through the next swell.
