Edit: Maybe his injury was worse than we thought? He was out all spring, right?

Over on PackPride they say we got a QB commit, I would guess it's Proctor.

That would be sweet if we got Proctor and could go a long way in getting Nixon. Proctor is legit too. He looks like a very good athlete in his videos. Proctor is ranked the 24th best player in the state on Rivals. They rank him as the #83 athlete and a 3* prospect.

Definitely Proctor. We told him after our camp we would give him a couple of weeks to decide and then move on. So if we already have a QB commit now, its definitely Proctor. Lets hope he can bring his teammate Xavier Nixon with him

He didn't do so hot at the VT camp this weekend and didn't wind up with a QB offer. Maybe he was going through all the camps just to get an idea of from whom he could get offers. I'm more than happy to "settle" for him though. I think he'll be a good project for Bible to work with.

"Proctor was not intimidated, not much at least, by the presence in Raleigh of highly touted freshman quarterback Mike Glennon. Glennon, from Chantilly, Va., was one of the prizes in last February’s recruiting class for N.C. State.

“To tell you the truth, I was a little nervous about that at first,’’ Proctor said. “He’s one of the best (high school) quarterbacks in the nation. But I just saw it as an opportunity to get better. It’ll make me better practicing around somebody like that. I can watch what he does and learn how he became to be so good.’’"

That is the attitude I like to see. Who knows we might could use both of them at the QB position, and it's always good to have quality depth at the QB position. I think Proctor will grow a lot as a QB under Bible. I think having to play in a more option oriented attack in high school hurt him. What I saw of Proctor in his highlight videos in terms of his passing ability seems promising.

I think this really helps us with Nixon. He could now hang out with C.J. Williams and Everett Proctor during his college years.

Here's a page with a highlight video of Proctor off to the side.

That's a hot beat in his highlight video

He obviously looks good running but we'll have to see about his arm. It's a good thing that he has at least two years to work on it before he's asked to throw for us. I trust Bible saw enough of his stuff to think that he can mold him into the pro-style QB proctor wants to be. Although, I see absolutely nothing wrong with his scrambling as long as he knows when to run and when to pass. "Dual-threats" can be theoretically be a good thing.

Haha, it looks like he kicked some FGs and XPs last season. He kicked a long of 23 and was 2/3 on the season. We have our new kicker

Looking at his stats, this is what I like:
48% Pass Completion, 1105 yards rushing, 85 yards rushing a game

What I'm worried about:
183 rushing attempts and only 160 passing attempts, 5 TD passes and 7 Ints (Note: It seems several boxes are missing from the Pass TD column so he may have had more)

So we can infer that JB's offense is more rush oriented than throwing, which is fine. I'm just concerned about how this will translate to an offense where the QB's job is hit the receivers a lot more frequently than he'll be running. But again, he has time to work all of it out. I'm just glad to have a talented guy like him on board.

Well yeah he plays in what looks like an option offense. In that offense it's all about speed, timing, and hitting WRs early (usually on quick slants and other short routes). I think it's encouraging that he could have gone to GT and played earlier but wants to come here instead and get better as a passer. Maybe seeing how good Matt Ryan was this past year convinced him how good Dana Bible is at developing QBs.

Everett Proctor was recently upgraded to a 3* on Scout. They also list him as a QB rather than a S. He's ranked as the #51 QB nationally.

twice in that video he pump faked and scrambled to the short side of the field. Even against high school competition that's pretty impressive to pick up that kind of yardage.

Hooksaw I completely agree. He needs to get a lot stronger. My brother can bench 310 and is only 6'0" 180 lbs. A 300 lb defensive tackle should be benching more than 325. Unless he has really long arms, he should be lifting quite a bit more than that. For DT however pure strength isn't as important as size and using your leverage to clog lanes. Also max strength isn't as important as muscular stamina. I do agree though that he needs to get a lot stronger if he wants to see the field in college.

my cousin (~6'3" ~290 lbs) just recently maxed out at 425 the other day. I wish he still wanted to play football, because I think he'd make a pretty good lineman, but he loves wrestling too much

Upper body strength is generally more important for DEs or LBs that do alot of pass rushing... someone basically who has to fight through a block without bullrushing. If he gets that squat max closer to 500 and increases his bench max about 25-30 pounds, he'll be fine as far as strength goes.

So Ryan Cheek has gone from the #31 best MLB nationally to the #28 best MLB nationally on Scout. I doubt he does it, but he'd have to move up to the Top 15 to get 4* status.

4* (STAAAAAARRRRSSS to quote PP) would be nice

but think about it - #28 LB in the COUNTRY. out of thousands of LBs. I'm satisfied with that.

i love how this staff recruits. sure i'd like the excitement we had when signing glennon & manning last year, but i never get the 'hit or miss' feeling i did from Amato & co. theres always a backup if we miss on the prime time guy, and you always know it's someone who can contribute for 4 years.
