The "PI!!!!" stuff is stupid and reeks of some sort of wack ass packpride superiority thing. Insider puts some decent content out and links articles I wouldn't normally stumble across.

lol, good posts guys!

I mean, I like PI, that's why I follow them and post some of their articles.

Did you follow them from the beginning? Like back when they filmed themselves telling a recruit that if they beat him in a one-on-one game, then he'd have to commit to NC State? And they're pretty notorious for terrible writing, complete non-stories, misspellings, and grammatical errors, although they have gotten a lot better over the years. But again, I appreciate what they do.

And I'm not a PPer... in fact, I really only visit that site to read the basketball and football recruiting threads. I used to read about the UNC scandal, but there's way too much bullshit in those to find any real "news".

But again, good posts guys!

That ridiculous game of one-on-one with Will Barton.
Confirming DeMarcus Cousins commitment to State through his former high school assistant coach.

Congrats on still doing what they love after all that mess.

4* 2016 PF and former UVA commit Sacha Killeya-Jones committed to Kentucky over UNC, which should help (or at least not hurt) with Bam and is also funny because he's from Chapel Hill

supposedly 5* 2016 shooting/combo guard Markelle Fultz, 4* 2017 shooting guard Charles O'Bannon Jr., and (possibly) 5* 2017 point guard Matt Coleman will visit in the next week or so

don't know if they'll end up signing him, but they do have Raymond Felton's 5 star nephew committed for the class of 2017 (obviously the family connection helps there)

Bam almost broke the goal on this play. NC State shit would have been in full effect if it fell on him ending his playing days.

Christian Matthews, a 2016 wing that we offered in June and from whom we'd been receiving mutual interest (think he named us his leader at some point), committed to Georgia Tech. hadn't heard anything about him in a while though, so not too surprising.

A follow up on the Christian Matthews commit to GT

http://recruiting.blog.ajc.com/2015/08/24/georgia-tech-basketball-commit-ready-to-help/

Quote :
"Even though he was getting looked at by Temple, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Rutgers and Penn State, the race for Matthews was only between two ACC schools –NC State and Georgia Tech,

Matthews was initially attracted to the Wolfpack because he believed that he would be a great fit into their offense.

“The system they run up there at NC State is like built for a wing,” he said, “The wings are the strongest part of their team and that kind of opened my eyes a lot.”

He was impressed by N.C. State’s success in recent years, but favored Tech because of team chemistry and the challenge of helping Tech become a threat again in the ACC.

“NC State was really only talking about basketball. Like they really didn’t talk about the bond the team has,” he said. “Georgia Tech has that.”

Matthews also did a little bit of homework on Tech’s roster situation. He noticed that the team’s top two scoring threats, Marcus Georges-Hunt and Charles Mitchell, are seniors this season. Thus it creates an opportunity to contribute early when he joins the Yellow Jackets for next season"

I think that last paragraph is more likely the reason he went, not the whole team chemistry thing.. He looked at competing with Rowan and Kirk at the wing with having to share the ball with likely two other 5* recruits, and decided to go be the go to guy at GT.

He didn't have a commitable offer here, that's why he didn't come to NC State. Multiple sources said he tried to commit at least once to our staff and they wouldn't take his commitment.

(double post coming up)

too late to edit ^, but that's essentially what happened with Torian Graham a few years back. He tried to commit, but by that point I think the staff had other, higher priorities and wouldn't take his commitment at that time.

The bond thing is a given. The reason we're talking about basketball and GT isn't is because GT basketball fucking blows.

Duke is out of it for DSJr, too many guards esp. if the 5* PG from this year stays.
Kentucky is recruiting 2 5* PGs and leading for at least one of them, so unless something crazy happens and they whiff on both, they're likely out.

Still think his recruitment is going to drag out a bit.

Asshats on IC have been raving all week about something changing with DSJr and they now feel they have a good shot of landing him and this Bam as well. Source seems to be some guy talking out his ass about his AAU coach friend, I want to see the crushed looks on their faces when both come here.

The sad thing is, even with the pending doom of the NCAA sanctions and the horrible PR with the handling of the women's program, I still feel like they are still a threat to recruiting. Am I just paranoid?

They just landed the 5th best C (according to scout) so it's not really paranoia.

Unless the NCAA comes out with concrete punishments, UNC will tell recruits it's all rumors.

^^their recruiting has certainly trended down recently, surely due to the investigation. but i think it's completely legitimate to still worry about them. they're still a household name, they still have the championships, and history, and all that bullshit. with the investigation coming to a close soon it will either 1) help them in recruiting when there are no serious bball sanctions or 2) hurt them even worse in recruiting if there are serious sanctions.

so i think that cloud of suspicion and the ability for coaches to use that against UNC could be coming to an end soon if bball gets away unscathed. as fans, we'll all remember their dirty program and the cheating and their reputation will suffer...but i kinda doubt that is gonna matter to most high school recruits as long as there are no serious sanctions.

They've struck out on pretty much every top recruit they've gone after in the past two years. A lot has to do with their current depth...but a lot of recruits just don't want to fuck with a program that might get banned from the tournament. This Bradley kid is the only top 50 kid they've signed in two years....just think about that for a second. A program that use to get several McDAAs every year and pretty much hand selected who they wanted...just got their first top 50 recruit in two years. And watch if they get sanctions...this kid will dip out as well.

And don't worry about Smith. He's not going to UNC.

The state fan in me believes this is exactly what is going to happen. The NCAA has too much to lose (financially) by hurting that program. I just don't believe anything serious is going to happen to them. If that is how it plays out, I hope other programs like Syracuse (who've been hit harder for less violations) sue the shit out of the NCAA because they will have proven that they are a complete fraud.

Theyll get hit but itll be underwhelming. Something like what Cuse just got - a 1 year postseason ban and some reduced schollies (which is meaningless b/c no one needs more than 10 schollies in 2015)

^Well, it essentially forced Boeheim into retirement, so i wouldn't call it meaningless. If this results in Roy's retirement, I would chalk that up as a win. And any decrease of scholarships in basketball is significant.

Also, has it really been two years since they signed a top-50 player? I mean just last year they signed Williams, who is supposed to be really good this year, and the year before that they signed 2 5-stars and another 4-star.
