Let it be known right here who you'd take if you had the #1.

For me... its Durant all day.

No question.

Ultimately, I want the guy who has the killer instinct because he's the guy thats more likely to win a championship.

A guy like Oden reminds me of Alonzo Mourning or Patrick Ewing. Great center that will be ultra consistent in the regular season but come playoff time he cant CARRY a team on his back like MJ, Lebron, etc

Durant is just a better basketball player, more marketable, and too unique to pass up.

And if youre Portland, you're crazy if you pass on Durant.

Jack, Roy, Durant, Randolph, Aldridge.

You'd feel comfortable about betting against them in the postseason ~4 years from now?

Really?

Im going to say go defense and take Oden.

Move Aldridge to the 4 spot and have Oden in the middle.

Jack, Roy, Randolph, Aldridge, Oden. That might not work but Randolph would still bring back a good SF in return.

Oden all day baby

he still has yet to show what he can do with a completely healed hand as he was still sore on it in the tourney.

kid is too big, too strong and too gifted to not be your choice...these type of players dont come along everyday...not to mention if you can get him AND his PG in a package good lord...

Durant to me is too weak, he may have the instinct but I dont think he has the size and power of a MJ/Lebron or Even the finesse of a Kobe.

sure hes a good player and solid #2 but you cant pass up on the big man, especially since hes the only true solid center to come out in a long long time.

yeah i think Oden really gets an unfair rap about not caring about basketball or being too mild-mannered. i think it is refreshing for a change to see someone with his ability just go about his business and play ball. the kid is going to be absolutely dominant....and we've only seen a FRACTION of his potential.

i love Durant but Oden #1 hands down.

I don't see any way you don't take Oden.

Big time big men are much harder to come by than solid 3s.

Honestly, how long does it take to heal? Are we going to hear in 5 years that Oden would be absolutely awesome if his wrist would just heal?

Great article about it... guy lists exhaustive lists of pros and cons for each player.

I still haven't decided who I'd take.

The fan in me says Durant.

I just wish Oden had been 100 percent healthy this past season so we could evaluate each of their season's at full strength, because Oden has supposedly shocked teams with how much more effective he is now than 4 months ago.

Oh and I do like the nickname "Durantula" as well]

yea cause its been a whole week since tim duncan's season finished

i'd say oden probably has the best chance of bein a force in the nba, but if i were the blazers, i'd probably take durant.

Centers are way harder to get than PF"s. For that reason, it has to be Oden.

Yeah I don't think the weakest player in the draft will be playing down low.

Durant is a SF/3 if ever there was one.

Sure Durant is a 3 now, but I think he has more future as a 4 once he gets some meat on his bones.

KG was a 3 coming out of HS as well, but of course you'd consider him a 4 now.

i wouldn't be at all surprised if tucker had a better career than both of those guys. you still can't take him top 2 though, if for no other reason than b/c you'll be crucified a la the texans.

haha yeah. The Texans taking Mario #1 just might go down as one of the worst pics ever in the history of any draft. Especially since Young and Bush have turned out to do so well. Especially Young and coupled with the fact that the Texans released the guy that they kept instead of drafting Young because he was their so called "franchise QB" Then they release his ass less than a year later. Fucking hilarious.

mario isn't a bust yet. and really i think the texans deserve the blame for most of his rookie season struggles. he still has plenty of time to justify his #1 pick status, but whether he will still remains to be seen.

KG was a 5 in HS and Durant cant even bench 185 so I honestly dont think he will ever be a 4, i could see a future 2

Durant can play anything from SF, PF, C.... SG might be a stetch for him.

"Positions" don't really matter in the NBA

How can you say Durant can't play center but Boris Diaw and Al Harrigton can...

Bench press is basically meaningless in basketball. T-Mac said the other day that he couldn't bench press 185 when he got drafted. Bill Simmons mentioned the point that neither could Bird or Magic probably.

The bench press is simply not that important in sports... you aren't allowed to use a 2 handed shove in the NBA.

Besides the guy is black. Just because he can't bench 185 today doesn't mean he can't tomorrow.

Can Amare guard Durant?

I can count the number of people on one hand that can guard Tim Duncan...

Durant might not be a center RIGHT NOW but i think its stupid to say that Boris Diaw & Al Harrington can play center for teams who went to the West Finals and the West semis but that Durant can never be used as a center...

He's a freak of nature. He's got the skill of Dirk but the size of Garnett. This guy is going to be a megastar.

Wow. You're a moron. Garnett was a stick coming out of HS (just like Durant) & only weighed 220. No one 220 lbs is a fucking center in the NBA. He was a SF/PF spec, just like Durant. And no way in hell Durant is a SG.

Garnett's specs coming out of HS - 6'11" 220
Durant's specs - 6'10" 225

I think Garnett developing into a pretty good PF even though he had a similar body.
