Does anyone have one that they actually play?

I have a 360 and am thinking about getting a PS3, mainly for the blu-ray player. Also want to get MLB 07 when it comes out...

Have their been any glitches that you have personally seen with your PS3? My 360 used to overheat til I got it replaced, and it was a huge headache. Trying to avoid that again.

My sister had a demo of the ps3 in her office and she said that it wasn't that impressive. She likes the new Nintendo more.

i havnt seen much about the PS3 failing. I remember when 360 came out there were crazy reports about it crashing all the time.

i played one in best buy for about 5-10 minutes

that sixaxis controller seems hard as fuck to get used to, especially since the demo was a racing game. there was no steering with the joystick, only with the movement of the controller.

I like that there's multiple ps3 threads now. Because I'm a guy that likes to have choices.

I have a PS3 and have not had any issues what so ever with it. I also know a bunch of folks that have one and they haven't had any problems. the ones at EB, etc are chashing becuase they are confined in those cases and they get hot in there.

Ayway, I enjoy mine a lot, the only issue is that there aren't that many great games out right now, but in a couple of months they are going to start flooding in, starting with Motorstorm which looks pretty amazing.

That's what I've gathered about the PS3 as well. Until they start expanding their library and solve their production issues, there's going to be very little traction. From a buzz standpoint, Wii seems to be winning out at this point (minus the insane profit made by folks selling their PS3's on eBay).

I want a ps3 mainly for the blu ray player. I view it as a blu ray player that also plays games, rather than vice versa. That's why I'll probably buy the 20gb version.

I do want mlb 07, though.

Has anyone heard anything about a media remote for the PS3? I know that as of right now, you have to control movies, etc, with the sixaxis.

Also, has anyone tried to bookmark chapters, etc, with the blu-ray/dvd player? is it possible with the ps3?

the Blu-Ray remote is coming in December, right before Christmas.

It's BlueTooth, which is retarded as shit...won't work with my Harmony remote.

Re: all the instances of crashed PS3s. For some dumb reason, Sony decided to put the PS3s in shitty cases for retail display. I'm guessing this is what causes the crashing, and the jet-engine like noise levels.

I've had mine since launch and have kept it on as much as a whole weekend at a time, and never had it glitch at all, much less freeze up. YMMV, I guess.

^thats dumb to make the remote blue tooth. I was hoping to integrate it with my Panesonic HDTV.

yeah tell me about it... It's typical Sony "how can we make this proprietary" mentality though...

Hopefully some IR-->BT converters will hit the market soon after.

^ Or more like hey, our controllers use blue tooth so it will be easy to make the remote use it too. That way it won't have to be directional and have a better range. I would be surprised if most things migrate towards bluetooth at some point.

The old choice was rf vs ir.

Don't know anyone that has one or wants one. I have however noticed that EVERY single demo one is frozen or out of order at every store I've been to.

^^yeah, cuz an IR port costs like, what, $.05 to add on?

You're telling me none of them thought about the millions of people who use universal remotes?

They thought of them, and wanted their $30 too.

I like the ps3 so far. The first day I put it inside my entertainment center and it froze up from the heat of it combined with the heat of my reciever. Then I moved it out to the side where it gets free air and it hasnt froze up once since then. The only complaint I have is that too many of the games out at this point dont use the ps3s power and only go up to 720p.

^ not really.. i mean i personally think the graphics in 720p still are as good or better than xbox360..... and i mean the blue ray movies in 1080p or even 1080i are amazing.

well i played a ps3 at best buy again yesterday.

two tries of playing NBA Live 07 or whatever, 2 crashes in the 3rd quarter.

nice

you can slice it how you want with the plastic cases causing overheating, but 360's at best buy never crashed on me

^ Demo's loaded on the system not real games, also the PS3 you see in the plastic case is not the PS3 that is on.... inside the gray part behind it there is a ps3 crammed in, I havent had a crash on my PS3 in 3 weeks since I moved it out of the small entertainment center.... and not even yesterday when was played it for 6+ hours in celebration of completing a final.

wait so it did crash when you had it in an entertainment center?

well that's just fantastic

^ I had it in the very bottom part of a closed back entertainment center on top of my reciever that was also running and putting out heat. Now it is in the middle part of the entertainment center and I have had 0 problems.... but basically if you want to complain so much about the ps3 go ahead.... anyone can complain about just about anything.... but the key is you dont have to buy it .... so just buy something else for yourself and I will continue to enjoy something I have had 0 problems with and actually had a lot of fun on.

So far I would say the PS3 overall has had less problems (not at stores) than your 360 which I am sure you are in love with. (Also a good system in my mind)
