^^ I don't remember the exact words, because I zone out when Scott talks, but it was something about math , and him going to Carolina and Rivers going to State.

I think it was Rivers being on pace for 48 TD's.

He probably threw the word okie doke in there somewhere too.

right, but drafting rivers in the second round over WR's and RB's when he was probably going to be there 4 rounds later was a bad use of the pick

<fantasy>Anyone who drafted rivers in the second round is a fucking idiot who doesn't understand value or game playing. If you wanted to reach for him, take his average round position on ESPN or Yahoo and get him maybe one or 2 rounds earlier. (After the 7th round or so, picks are pretty much random)</fantasy>

Just saw this blog entry by Jeff Gravely. If true, and I don't know why it wouldn't be, it is kinda sad Phil feels hat way about his alma mater's program.

I did read the blog. And nothing was said about the Chargers playing the Panthers in Charlotte.

they edited it then, I saw it when it was first posted. He said something along the lines of "san diego was playing in charlotte the day after nc state played william and mary, was it too hard for Rivers to make an appearance" and some people called him out on it in the comments section, but the part of the blog and the comments have been erased now.

What a sham of a blog. A .27 second google search refutes his argument...

http://legacy.decaturdaily.com/decaturdaily/sports/061224/path.shtml

Quote :
"But among these N.C. State legends, the most photographed player is Rivers.

There are pictures of him with recently fired coach Chuck Amato, and shots of Rivers using his “awkward” throwing motion, as some have called it through the years. And there are photos of Rivers just horsing around with other players.

Underneath a jersey that Rivers wore at N.C. State reads a quote by Caulton Tudor from The Raleigh News and Observer: “Rivers is to football what David Thompson was to State basketball in the 70s.”

Thompson led the school to the 1974 NCAA basketball championship.

“With the way (Philip) was and his contributions to the school, you can say that he had a big part in this building,” Newby said.

Construction on the Murphy Center finished in 2003 and is 103,254 square feet of football training ground.

The trail of Philip Rivers moves onto the 50-yard line.

Up in the stands, next to Torry Holt’s retired No. 81 sits a placard, surrounded by red in white lettering that says Philip Rivers.

His No. 17 is black with a white frame. School officials unveiled it before Rivers played his final regular season collegiate game against Maryland on Nov. 22, 2003. "

Thats why I dont read their blogs...when they make a mistake, rather than actually own up to it, they correct the error and erase any comments related to it. Pretty sure most of the angry comments will be erased when someone checks on it later. "GoLo...but only if you agree with us".

Right now Rivers leads the league in passer rating and TD's, and he's an early MVP candidate, along with Drew Brees and... um... Albert Haynesworth?

Of course it's very early, but the week 8 matchup between Rivers and Brees in London could determine the front-runner for the MVP.

That said I'm gonna go on record and predict that Rivers gets snubbed for the pro-bowl. Everybody is infatuated with Cutler and his armstrength right now, Peyton is rounding back into form and Roethlisberger is a proven commodity. Given that the media, fans and opposing players aren't too fond of Rivers' antics last year, I could very well see him getting snubbed even if he leads the league in passer rating and/or TD's.

I really wonder if Rivers can keep up this pace. It's unbelieveable that he's leading the league in deep passes considering that it's not his strong suit.

If the Chargers win 10+ games with LT under performing and Rivers playing like this all season, he HAS to be a Pro-Bowler and a MVP candidate.

Pro-bowl voting started today and wraps up around week 15. Rivers could easily get snubbed. It happened to Mario despite the fact that he was probably the best DE in the NFL last year.

Eh, whatever. He got an undeserved pro-bowl invite back in '06 when he got in over Tom Brady.

Damn, I forgot about Fav-re being in the AFC now.

I'm officially calling it, Rivers will get snubbed for the pro-bowl because of all the media-love for Favre, Manning, Roethlisberger and Cutler.

Despite shitting the bed in the end of the Buffalo game, Rivers is still leading the league in TD passes, passer rating and yards per completion.

Rivers great play so far this year is some consolation to Charger fans worried about the end of their AFC West dominance with LT limping along and Norv doing his best to neuter the team. It'll be interesting to see if they go with the spread offense in the second half of the year or continue to go run-first despite LT getting only 3 yards per carry.

He just threw the first red zone interception of his career, compared to over 30 red zone TD's. Which sucks, but it's impressive he got to his 3rd year without throwing one.

Naw Dog

Eli's got a potent running game, killer defense and awesome primary reciever and he still can't come close to Rivers in passer rating again this year.

Plus the Eli honeymoon ends this weekend since the schedule gets tough and the weather gets nasty.

sorry

Instead of "success" you should have said "performance" since success implies actually winning something of importance.

Between the 2, there is only 1 team with a SB-caliber defense. And it's not the Chargers.
