If teenagers under 16 seek condoms, abortions, birth control, etc., they get reported to Social Services.....
That's fucked up. 2/2/2006 1:38:58 PM |

its not a bad idea. there's probably an increased probability that the child is being exploited as age of sexual activity decreases 2/2/2006 1:46:55 PM |

Duh. When they know that seeking condoms, abortions, birth control, AIDS testing, etc., will result in getting reported to Social Services, they'll probably decide not to try to seek condoms, abortions, birth control, AIDS testing, etc., but will still have sex. Thus....2/2/2006 1:55:29 PM |

Exactly
A little off-topic but:
I've been looking for the story, cant find it... but I read recently about a case where a teacher had sex with a 16yr old student, and the mother was allowed to keep the child then 3yrs later it became state law that accused sex offenders (and she was one b/c she had sex with a 16yr old) could not be unsupervised with ANY child... including their own.
^ Just an example of how rediculous these sex offender/ "CHILD PROTECTION" laws are becoming... even someone who is convicted of being a 'peeping tom' = sex offender = not being able to be alone with their OWN kids in their OWN house.
And remember this NEVER gets off your record... so all you 20yr old guys that look through a girls dorm room window ---- when you're 40yrs old, you won't be able to sit in your living room with your 12yr old kid alone.2/2/2006 2:15:18 PM |

^Yeah, the social conservatives are bitter. They figure, "It's not fair that I didn't get any p00n until college. I know, let's punish kids who have sex because, well, we're jealous." Or even worse, they figure: "It's wrong to have sex before marriage, and these kids know it. I know, let's just ban them from having sex by law, thus discouraging them from doing it responsibly, and then when they get pregnant or an STD, it's OK, because they're breaking the law and deserve what they get."
I mean, I'm guessing that most social conservatives don't lose their virginity until around 19, let alone until marriage. No wonder they don't care if two 15-year-olds are prohibited from having sex--it's something they know nothing about.....
Sexually active kids and young teenagers need access to STD testing, prophylactics, sex education and other services as much as adults and older teenagers....
Anyway, aside from the health issues, how about simply recognizing that laws prohibiting kids from having consensual sex are ludicrous to begin with. Sure, ban adults from having sex with kids, but, as long as they're being responsible, where's the harm in kids having sex with each other?
