^I think we are gonna have to wait at least another year before we can determine that. Once each system has released a bunch of games and accesories. But if they ever come out with a Super Smash Brothers DS that works with wifi... well, that will pretty much seal it.

well for those that like it. and those that like GTA will swear its release on psp will seal the deal in the psp's favor. its just a matter of game preference.

I just don't see how anyone can claim that one game will "seal" the argument. That's retarded.

That being said, when GTA:LCS comes out in 10 days that's going to be about as close to "sealing" this argument as you're gonna get.

It's like you fanboys don't know the meaning of the word opinion or something.

How can you make a statement like that when there are games like Socom and Battlefield 2 coming out?

Have fun with your auto-aim while DS owners have the luxury of precise controls.

I'm a DS owner as well. So I get the best of both worlds. I'm just saying it's entirely too early to say that one will be better than the other when we're talking about games that are months away from release.

graphics>>>>gameplay

I'm sorry but if a game looks like shit on one platform vs a competitor's, it doesn't matter how innovative a touchscreen is, it's not gonna make me buy it.

plus you can't beat the homebrew scene for the psp

^^Are you fucking kidding me? You seriously think that graphics are better then gameplay? So you're saying you would rather play fucking Finding Nemo on the PS2 then Super Metroid on the SNES? gtfo of this thread.

I guess toemoss didn't like GoldenEye for the N64. The graphics was horrible, but, damn that game was fun. But that's just one game though.

Goldeneye was awesome before Perfect Dark came out. It sucks because most classics are still playable years and years later. Goldeneye is an exception. Only had fun with it for those few years....still wasted a crapload of hours on it though.

I just read on PA that there is a new rumble pack type thing for the DS that plugs into the GBA port. I'm not sure if it's out yet, anyone have any gameplay with it?

im really not that big into handhelds anymore, but the ds made me come back. im sure it has been said but what is on psp? buncha things i could play on regular consoles...gta, racing, sports, generic platformers. not too much thats appealing sans a few gems.

the ds has its share of shitty games too, but the touchscreen really makes the games feel fresh. i like every game i've gotten for it and am glad to have something thats different (even if it has its own pitfalls).

Popular science released their Top Tech Innovations of 2005. The PSP won out in the best gadget category.

Quote :
" The introduction of Sony's PlayStation Portable (PSP) was the moment
portable game consoles stopped being toys. It's smaller than a paperback, with
a wide-screen display and the best-looking and most sophisticated games ever
made for a portable. But it's what you can do on the PSP besides play games
that really separates it from what came before. Listen to music or watch video
from its Memory Stick Duo slot, surf the Web with its integrated Wi-Fi and
browser, or pop in a Universal Media Disc of the latest movie."

I must say it is an excellent addition to the Castlevania library. If you liked Circle of the Moon or Aria of Sorrow I would definitely recommend this one. It is very nice to not have to keep pushing select every time you want to see the map.

Holy crap. Next week the DS is going nuts with new titles. Check this list...
------------------------------
Mario Kart DS
Sonic Rush
Tony Hawk's American Sk8land
Snood 2: On Vacation
Viewtiful Joe Double Trouble
Snowboard Kids DS
Bust-A-Move DS
Black & White Creatures
Need for Speed Most Wanted
Sega Casino

I've been trying to decide which one I want to get for myself. I've only once seen a PSP out in a store to play a demo on, which kind of sucks. I was really impressed with the system though - it looks a lot better than the DS. But the strenght of the DS is definitely in the titles available. There don't seem to be that many great games on the PSP.

aye it has the games and is cheaper. plus the stylus (as i said early) makes it feel a lot different while psp feels more of the same. i do like the psp's other features, but it is unlikely that id use them.

If "more of the same" means getting to play Super Mario World, FF6, and Super Metroid while I'm watching TV, so be it.

But, like I've said 10 times in this thread, despite what jackasses like Kainen say, they're both great systems in different ways.

aww, dont be bitter d00d. I would like the PSP if the current titles they put out for it werent few and far between and well just like ps2 only with shittier frame rates.

I can see the draw to PSP for pure emulation purposes, but you pay a good amount for that - and how much fresh value does that bring you?

Well, I own about as many new PSP games as I do DS games. The PSP did cost more, but it does more, I'm not poor, so it doesn't really matter.

They're both good systems. Like I fucking said.

The ability to play roms is really what makes the PSP appealing.

But those damned Nintendo Dogs are winning me over.

The SOCOM game is also getting really good reviews for the PSP. With close to two dozen flights in the next 2 months, I think I'm gonna get a PSP this week and pick up GTA, SOCOM, and one other. Hopefully the hacks to get ROMs working will be completed by the time I set off on my trips.

use eboot loader for 2.0 firmware, or downgrade to 1.5 from 2.0 and use pretty much all homebrew

i thought it was impressive that they had all the different things you could do (walk, bathe, feed, play, tournies) and had a great deal of unlockables, but once you do it with one dog there really isnt a ton of interest to do it with the others.
