CBS Sports just posted an article on junior Ivan Rabb, currently ranked as the #2 prospect in his class:
Quote :
"Many high school players go into the July live recruiting period with goals of earning scholarship offers or perhaps breaking into the top 100 of the rankings. When you're the No. 2 junior in the 247Sports Composite rankings, though, things are a little different.

Ivan Rabb is aiming a little bit higher than the normal 2015 prospect.

“I want to show everybody that I am the best player in the country,” Rabb said. “Just go out there and play every game, and play my game. Rebound the basketball, defend, score inside.

“I just think I am. It's just confidence. I just put up numbers every game.”

The 6-foot-10 power forward from Bishop O'Dowd (Calif.) averaged 12.9 points and 11.2 rebounds during the EYBL regular season, with the latter number good enough to rank in the top 10 on the circuit. Aside from one game at the Peach Jam in which Rabb only played five minutes, he averaged 11.5 points and 11.5 rebounds.

“When I get going, I can get a shot over anybody,” Rabb said. “I just have to be focused on scoring, and not worry about what anyone else is saying. Just play.”

Rabb has offers from California, Arizona, UNLV, Kansas, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Washington State, USC and UCLA, while Louisville, Duke and Georgetown are beginning to enter the picture.

He said Cal, Arizona, North Carolina and NC State are coming at him the most.

“Those four schools, I just like that they're recruiting me hard,” Rabb said. “I've seen all of them play. They all like to get out and run. They all have shooters and they all have bigs.”

He hasn't taken too many trips yet, but he did go unofficially to California and Stanford because of their proximity to his home.

“I like them because they're both real big academic schools,” Rabb said. “They have nice campuses, and they have both pretty good basketball programs.”

The next big thing from the vaunted Oakland Soldiers AAU program isn't anywhere close to making a decision, and he doesn't even have plans to trim his list anytime soon. It's understandable, of course, as Rabb is only a rising junior and can only see his recruitment grow.

With that said, he does have an idea of what he's looking for in a school.

“Academics have to be good because not everybody is going to go to the NBA, I want to make sure I get a good degree, in business most likely,” Rabb said. “Basketball-wise, I just want to have a school that can run and gun, but also has a potent half-court offense that can score most of the time down the floor.”

Rabb is expected to play for the USA West team at the Nike Global Challenge this weekend"

^ He'll end up at Kentucky or on the west coast. It's great that we're getting mentioned in his comments, but I don't see it happening. Another Julius Randle situation...

Really hope we get Clark after watching that. Nothing too flashy, no dramatics, no big ego, just gets out on the court and goes to work. Generates good vibes.

reminds me a little bit of TJ Warren, finds multiple ways to put the ball in the basket. Looks like he is a little bit more athletic around the basket and doesnt have as good of a outside jumpshot as TJ

To me, looks pretty athletic to me.

Looking like a combo forward. I'm guessing one of the Martin Twins plays a little SF...Washington and Freeman at the PF. I think he can get some good minutes playing both forward positions.

Our frontcourt is starting to build some depth. I also don't see any of our big men as possible early draft entries. So maybe one more primary post player (PF/C) to back up and/or fight Anya for some playing time and we're good for the next few years.

Both are 6'6" but Caleb is 190 and is more of a college "2" and Cody is listed at 215 and should be more of a "3". Not much difference in the wings in our system though.

Looks like Anya and Meeks are switching roles. Anya seems to have put on a good 25 to 30lbs while Meeks has been reported to have lost a similar amount.

Time to get on that treadmill/bike/whateverthefuckwillmakeyousweatprofusely, BJ.

"Clark already had offers from ACC members Clemson, Miami, Pittsburgh and Wake Forest. He also has offers from several other Division I programs, including East Carolina, Virginia Commonwealth, Cincinnati, Wichita State and Xavier.

There is no fucking way he weighs that much...

He's heavy, probably close to 300, but 338? Get the fuck outta here with that bullshit.

Yeah we all talked shit about Meeks being overweight and Anya being better as a freshman. I think Anya has the skill/tools to be a great player, but no way he'll see a ton of minutes as a freshman at 338lbs, he'll need to get down to about 300 just to hope for 15 minutes a game at the college pace. Meeks has actually lost 20+lbs in preparation for arriving at UNC, where as Anya must have gained those 20+lbs he lost.

Was really hoping Anya would work on developing his body before arriving this summer, hopefully our S&C guys can get him going. But to gain 60lbs in a year, makes me wonder what his work ethic will be like.

If Beejay is really 338, then Gottfried needs to be on his ass about what the fuck he's eating. Gaining 60+lbs a year is insane.

PackInsider fellas...come on.

There was also a guy on their forums who has been going to the ProAm games and said Anya has been the biggest disappointment so far and that he is HUGE. Said he can't imagine him getting more than 10-15 minutes a game this year...if that. Also said Washington is awesome.

I believe that guy.

Not often. But they are the only people talking about the Pro Am. I went there looking to see if anyone was present when Tyler Lewis dropped 40+ in a Chavis League game. Alas...no one was.

The thing that makes Anya different from some of those other HUGE guys like Dixon/Reggie Johnson/etc. is that even as big as he is he still has some explosiveness with all the dunks he seems to get. At least he's not completely immobile, he probably just won't be able to play more than 20 min a game in our offense.

he's still immobile he just has longer arms than glennon's neck so he only needs to jump about 3 inches off the ground to dunk

Maybe you have seen some clips or games I have not, but everything I have seen points to him having next to zero athleticism. Fortunately, when you have a huge wingspan and are a big load you can still do pretty well in college. My hope is that his lack of mobility is due to his weight and not just something he is missing.

I called TJ Warren contributing more than Purvis last summer and I'm calling Washington being significantly better than Anya at least in year one.

He's fat Howell with longer arms. Looks like getting cut by the beginning of this season isn't in the cards, but that needs to be his main focus for his sophomore season. He has a pretty high ceiling if he can get get to ~250-260 like Howell did.

If the coaches put his fat ass on a strict diet for the next 4 months, he could easily drop 40-50 lbs. Just put him on a serious carb restriction and get some of the other players to hound on him and help hold him accountable so that he does not go and gourge himself on a Gumby Dammit every night.

If the guys he's hanging out with (probably the other players) are all over him, then it'll help keep him from cheating. Dude must be eating like 10,000 calories a day right now. Probably drinks more calories than most people consume in a day.

I don't understand all the mad in this thread about Anya's weight. He'll be alright.

We've got Vandy who will be a huge player for us this season. He should fill the role, minutes and performance that Big Rich gave us. He also has the leadership skills to boot(the seniormost player on the roster?) and will mentor Anya who will have a tough time as a freshman with limited minutes. Barring injury to Vandy and Jevoni I don't see Anya playing a major role this season

I think Vandy is actually fairly mobile and athletic for his size, he just doesn't know what the heck he is doing.
