well maybe you know different fans than I do, because almost everybody I know would freak out about herb every time the team would lose. I seriously only know like two herb supporters.

I think more did than you may realize. The ratio is not the 90% supporters : 10% haters that many people would like you to believe.

Before this past season....maybe, but after the UNC blowout home game followed by the BC (6 timeouts, no points, 3 turnovers in OT) home game, I would say the vast majority were calling for his head.

I got mad at the end of the season at Herb too. I went through about 3 days where I wanted him hung. Then, I realized that he's not that bad, he's not the one missing the shots, and we have some good players coming in the next few recruiting classes.


Yeah, everyone got mad about the end of last season...it was fucking pathetic. Now I dont know many people who still wanted him gone a week after the tournament. Its easy to get caught up in the heat of the moment, and thats all that happened. Most people realized that we were better off with him than without him, even though they took the "shit or get off the pot" stance when it came to winning an acc championship.....and the people that dont agree with that are part of that vocal minority.




^I'd say its 90/10 when people actually look at the situation. Its 50/50 right after the Wake loss in the tournament and right after the UNC loss....maybe the other way around 90/10 ....but thats what I'm saying....everyone was pissed at the end of the season, but a large majority knew that Herb wasnt that bad.

Hell, everyone misses shots.

The problem was that our players were put into no win scenarios with only one option to score and the plays that were called did not put player in positions to score the ball.

That is directly the coaches fault.

If we drew a play that worked where we just missed the open shot, so be it, but when our called play consistently puts our center with the ball, 27 feet from the basket with 4 seconds left on the clock only to pass to a guard who jacks up a contested three from close to half court..

I'm sorry, but that's ALL HERBS FAULT. LIKE IT OR NOT.

^I agree with you on that one. but I don't know if I'd call for his head because of his lackluster performance in a few game ending situations. that was my biggest complaint with herb as well, but I didn't want him fired because of it.

^^i'm not really trying to get into an argument about this, but i think you're referring to the end of the BC game. it looked like bennerman was the go-to guy on that play and ced was supposed to hit him as he cut to the basket for a layup. BC had 2 guys completely locking down the lane so he couldn't get it to cam. he passed it to atsur who then got stuffed from 3 pt range...

the playcall wasn't to shoot a contested 3. it was to get it to cam. they defended it superbly, and we improvised the poor 3-point attempt.

it sucked, but that isn't something i would blame on herb.

i really liked the ozzie guillen take from the other day. its tough to not be fun when a guy defends himself by boasting in attending wnba games and a madonna concert...but i enjoyed listening to rome bash him.
