You've got to cover all areas of the store.

I live in Atlantic Beach, there is only one Walmart around here in Morehead. The next closet one is in Havelock and I am not driving that far to people watch.

I'm gonna go to walmart now.

Lawl, I live five minutes from the Morehead store, Sawahash, and I go out of my way to go somewhere else whenever possible.

^^I'm not really that big of a fan of it either, Arendell St. is so crowded all the time so I normally take Bridges street there. I remember when the Walmart was where Belk is now...It's always been super crowded there.

Well it was a let down today...although when I left since I didn't have my pillow in a bag the greeter asked to see my receipt. I was like "Why, do you think I stole something?" and she was all like "No, it's just what we always do." Then I was like "No it's not, you think I stole something" and she was like "I just want to make sure everything in your cart is on your receipt." Then I was like "well it is" and then I walked out with her going "Ma'am, ma'am! MA'AM!"

I was kinda all of a sudden in a bad mood as soon as I saw her cause I knew she was going to ask me because I didn't have my pillow in a bag, I saw that look on her face and that instant I decided I wasn't going to show her my receipt. I've never done anything like that before it was such a rush!

^pics of what?

This is why stores in America should use "anti-theft tape." It's brightly colored tape with the name of the store plastered all over it. If the person doesn't want a bag for their shit, the cashier slaps some of the tape on the packaging to show everyone you didn't steal it. Then you don't have to deal with harassment at the door.

Some places used to do that. They were like big and orange or yellow stickers saying "Thank You for Shopping"

Wonder why the went away with it

Well I think with general ones it'd be easy to go buy a roll from wherever it came from and go to town. It'd have to have the name of the store on it if you hoped to have it be effective.

For many stores, their biggest theft problem comes from employee-assisted theft like a cashier hooking up their friends with things, or teaming up with a friend to rip off the store. Their friends go through the register like anyone else, but the cashier just doesn't ring up some of the items. Having tape wouldn't help that situation since they could just tape stuff when they fail to ring it up.

I'm not saying that receipt checking is an ideal solution either, but that's why a lot of stores don't use tape or stickers except for large items like toilet paper or big bags of pet food.
